lewmonst 0 #1 February 8, 2003 Does anyone play collapse, the internet version on MSN? I'm a little addicted to the game, and play about once a day, but I'm baffled by these top scores. I mean, i'm pretty good, relatively speaking I'm ranked in the top half of a percent of everyone who's reported scores, but these guys at the top had to find a crazy easter egg or a good way to cheat. Check out the top scores: http://zone.msn.com/collapse/sp_ratings.asp?min=1 and then check out the spread by the time it gets to the 30th ranked player... from 2 Billion! quickly down to a feasable 15 Million. So anyone out there with a computer job and lots of free time, how'd they do it? where's the file they can access and change the numbers? do they slow their computer's clock down? peacehttp://www.exitshot.com
Zenister 0 #2 February 8, 2003 ive been wondering that about the Space Ball game too.. i'm generally really good at most video/computer games but i cant better than 6k yet the high scores start at nearly 21k i MUST be missing something...____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. scottbre 0 #3 February 8, 2003 I'm sure that if you have access to the source code for the game you can figure out how it works and then write another program that can "play" it. All it's moves would be instantaneous and you could even program the order that it chooses to select the groups based on whatever strategic heirarchy the programmer thinks would be most efficient. Now you know. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

I dunno. I score 15000+ most of the time and I'm pretty mediocore at video games.
Pammi 0 #5 February 8, 2003 Hey Lew..did ya look at some of the top scores? The top 6 or so all match EXACTLY, and a lot of those 'top scorers' only have played one or two games. BOGUS! Fun game tho :) Pam

Push 0 #8 February 10, 2003 I remember back in the day when we used to crack online games for fun. It's really not that difficult, especially if it's a Shockwave. A little more difficult if it's a Java, but even obfuscated proggies can be read. Shockwave was just silly - download the file, open in favourite editor, kaputnik. Eventually you grow up and realize that doing this stuff is just plain silly. Whats the point? -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.
