Sebazz1 2 #26 February 10, 2003 Hey Lenny I know how sucky long cold winters can be. I used to live in New England for a couple years. There is an open invitation to come down to Nor Cal and visit. You got a place to stay and folks to drink with... Try to get Alex A. to come on down with you. Open invitation... Cold Weather Sucks!!
Dumpster 0 #27 February 10, 2003 Yknow what? Let me run the idea past the wife - Maybe she's up for a long weekend in warm weather - and neither of us have been to Cali! Any whuffos there for her to hang out with while we burn up some sky? Easy Does It
Sebazz1 2 #28 February 10, 2003 Quote Any whuffos there for her to hang out with while we burn up some sky? Absolutely!! We actually have a decent crowd of non-jumping friends of jumpers at the DZ every weekend. And there's tons to do nearby. Santa Cruz, Monterey, Pinnacales near Hollister, etc... Don't forget. California sucks mostly, but for a long weekend it is nice...
Dumpster 0 #29 February 10, 2003 What is the nearest major airport? And what town/DZ will we be jumping from? Easy Does It

Dumpster 0 #31 February 10, 2003 Far Out! Give me a little while to see if my better half is game - How should I present it to her - "How about a weekend in sunny California?" It just might work! How warm has it been lately? (She likes it hot-) Thanks again! -Lenny Easy Does It
Sebazz1 2 #32 February 10, 2003 Quote How warm has it been lately? (She likes it hot-) Actually it has been a bit chilly... During the day it is nice and warm but at night it has been down into the 30's. We had frost the past two mornings. Totaly crazy. If you're really going to take a weekend trip soon, Sunny southern California would probably treat you better.
Dumpster 0 #33 February 10, 2003 Well, this weekend is a trip go eagle watching, and in April we're going to NY over Easter to visit my kids. So we have nothing planned in March - Maybe sometime then? Easy Does It
suz 0 #34 February 10, 2003 Quotehave you never gone abroad to somewhere snowy? that's right! It doesnt snow in Queensland. And I've only ever been south in Summer, and I've never landed in a plane, so I havent been overseas. I'll get there eventually! Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after
Dumpster 0 #35 February 10, 2003 I've been to Iceland. Nice place to visit, no way I'd want to live there! Snow Sucks! Easy Does It
Dumpster 0 #36 February 10, 2003 Hey check this out- The wife is making noises like she might even let me go out your way SOLO! She'd love to visit Cali, but not if it's a jumping trip - she wants my undivided attention- So- financially it could work out this way - Airfare- as cheap as possible - Transportation - Hopefully the generous nature of the skydiving community will provide transport to essential destinations - i.e. DZ, Beer store, place to crash, etc. Place to stay - Hopfully crash on a floor somewhere - I'm not proud. Stuff to pack - Rig, change of underwear, money, toothbrush. I'll keep you posted as I work things out- Any suggestions are welcome- I can feel the cabin fever fading away already! Sebazz1 2 #37 February 10, 2003 I got your back man if you come this way. Just let us know if you intend to escape the frozen north for a weekend... Be really really nice to your wife.
suz 0 #38 February 10, 2003 It's been raining here (hallelujah!) it's overcast and sitting on about 25'c. LOVELY! although I have a mouldy smelly car. Don't bother me, I'm living happily ever after
Dumpster 0 #39 February 11, 2003 It got up to the low 30's today - like 32 maybe- (f) This week the lows are supposed to be in the teens, highs in the upper 20's to low 30's - Just enough to make it miserable, but not super cold - (zero and below-) It still sucks- I'm pricing tickets to San Fran, San Jose, and Oakland, with Jose as first choice, I think Sebazz prefers it- If I can swing it, Dumpster may be going to Cali! Zeemax 0 #40 February 11, 2003 it's cold and wet here i find out today if i can make it over to sunny warm florida in april... CANT WAIT..!! Dumpster 0 #41 February 11, 2003 Sebazz you ROCK! I think I have the little lady in agreement to let fly out! (I need one more day to make sure "yes" doesn't really mean "no" - Know what I mean, guys?) Airfare should be about 170 to San Jose, I figure about 200 bones for jumps, (More if I can swing it- You can never have too much jump money) and 100-150 for "incidentals". (read - BEER!) So, for about 500 - 550 bones, Dumpster gets a nice vacation. It's 1 degree F here. Tomorrows' high won't even break 20. I think I'll spend the night tonite figuring how to come up with the $$ and studying for my C exam - Cabin fever SUCKS! But Skydivers ROCK!
