drenaline 0 #1 February 9, 2003 Hey since USA is in orange code, level, whatever. What are the things I should take in mind for the airplane and custom and all that crazy people at the airport? I don't want some paranoic whuffo taking out a knife and making a hole into my reserve and cypres thinking that its a bomb, or thinking that I have a parachute as carry on because I plan to bomb the plane and jump. The local rigger who is also one of Panama's (central america, or like some others think south america) aeronautical lawyers law makers, said that its best to take the rig completely opened, reserve out, main out and cypres out and to be sure to carry the cypres card with me at all times. Please need the replies urgent!!! Thanks for all the help. HISPA 21 www.panamafreefall.com
PhreeZone 20 #2 February 9, 2003 Don't open it up... thats only asking for trouble since its no longer able to be carried on. I'm flying Friday with my rig and all I'm doing is taking the Cypres card and a print out form my airlines web page that says parachutes are approved carry on items. Just an FYI... your rigger is smoking crack.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Jesus Christ, that's absurd. Take it through security like you would any other item, if it's not a big deal to you it won't be a big deal to them. If you're concerned about making it though security with your rig then check it, just be sure to get the additional insurance in case it doesn't show up at the other end. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. That's rediculous. I think it would be better to just make sure that the rig is not easily identifiable as a rig. Keep it in a bag or something. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. flypunk 0 #5 February 10, 2003 put it in a carry on bag and it should be no problem. I found the federal guards better that the usual since they actually knew that they were not supposed to open my parachute once I told them what it was. Carry your cypress card with you. They are allowed as carry on luggage on certain airlines, you can get most of that info through their websites. Good luck, and yes it's still South America for some. ... BikerBabe 0 #8 February 10, 2003 Ask the ticket agent at the counter where you check your bags to look up the instructions/regs on the "Airtec Cypress" (yes, they spell it wrong). It should come up in a search. Then ask if they will print that instruction out on a card and sign it as an official rep from the airline. The statement says something like "the US dept. of transportation has determined this AAD to be not controlled and may be carried on the aircraft" I did this on Southwest (idea from B^2...thanks girl!) last weekend and had no problems, since I just showed the card to the TSA folks at security when they started to look at my bag funny. Of course, coming home, they barely glanced at it. I don't know how this will work in other countries, though.Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! We'll have to ask him what he did, since he's currently jumping. Hey Enrique -- what'd you do to get your gear through? And are there pictures? edit: my bad, I thought from the "famous" post that he was here already. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it.
