mouth 0 #30 February 9, 2003 Well, I actualy baked cookies today to send to katie along with some other things. I wish I knew what sort of accomodations they have in Kuwait as that would make sending "personal - girlie" stuff easier. Thanks for doing this Lisa. I'm sure anything from home will brighten a day. Best of luck to our "guys and gals". Come home safely. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
Michele 1 #31 February 9, 2003 Hi, Lisa... So, about those cookies. How do you send them so they don't spoil? How do you bake them up or wrap them? Are there better recipes for the cookies, or will any kind do? Just curious...and will make a point to do the same...but dunno how. Thanks! skybytch 273 #32 February 9, 2003 QuoteHow do you send them so they don't spoil? When my brother was in the Navy, we'd send chocolate chip cookies in a coffee can. We used popped popcorn for protection. He said they always showed up whole and tasted great.
freeflir29 0 #33 February 9, 2003 Nice post Lisa. I'm fortunately still in the states. Out in the middle of nowhere but it isn't so bad. I get free ammo and get paid to go to the range every day!!! This job ROCKS!!! Just thought I would stop by and say hello. To all those folks out doing their jobs God Bless and I'll be out there with you soon. Michele 1 #34 February 9, 2003 Lisa...thanks for the hint. I suspect you used unbuttered popcorn... Curious - what about things like jelly beans, hard candy, and that stuff? Just pack and send? hooked 0 #37 February 9, 2003 Is there any way we could find out what they would like shipped to them? Or what they might need that they can't get where ever they are? It would be really helpfuledit--I'm sure they probably wouldn't want everyone sending them the same magazines, etc. Would there be any way to have a list of things already sent or a list of their wants? fool 0 #38 February 9, 2003 If you have pictures of people they know, then send those. Sentimental BS works well on tough army guys, especially when away from home. So, if you have a picture of them, and some friends having a good time, I'm sure they would like a copy to daydream about when they have time. mouth 0 #39 February 9, 2003 Michele, I actually planned on packing the cookies in jelly beans because i hadn't thought about pop corn. I'm sending Katie some pics from our DZ.com day with Craig Gerard and several girlie things. I also actually wrote her a note to go in there. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

Michele 1 #41 February 9, 2003 Taking notes here...Jelly beans, popcorn, photos, mags....Coffee cans (saved two of those today. The way I go through coffee, I should have about a bazillion of them shortly). I don't know any of these folk, so I can't send personal stuff. I can write long letters (like that's news or something), but it won't be about things they know. How about personal items, like shaving stuff, or lotion for chapped hands, or whatever? I need some ideas...Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
skybytch 273 #42 February 9, 2003 I've had several suggestions that for security reasons I password protect the page. Anybody out there willing to tell me how to do it in Front Page?
PhreeZone 20 #43 February 9, 2003 You have to do that on the server side. http://members.tripod.com/~ed443/protect.htm http://argentavis.hypermart.net/htaccess.html This method might look complex but its really easy to do.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

katiebear21 0 #45 February 9, 2003 Lisa - great idea! We truly appreciate it. I know I don't have it as bad as some of the other folks over here but when we do get time off, the last thing we want to do is stand in line for an hour for that one little sweet tooth craving! The cookies are a good idea. Pringles cans work really well too. That's what my grandma does. For folks that smoke/dip, tobacco products are hard to come by. Gum, snack bars, candies and pictures are all really good ideas. Again, thanks for the support. I had to travel outside my camp yesterday and was totally paranoid the whole time... mouth 0 #47 February 10, 2003 Lisa, I think it would help us to know who these people are (screen names). Sometimes I've talked to them or read a post that I remember but don't know their real names so it is hard to associate who they are. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.
