Patriots for Peace, help if you can

Recommended Posts

If you believe there is an alternative to war, check out this website:
www.patriotsforpeace.org
On the website you can show your support by downloading a PDF of a poster to hang on your car, or in your house windows. The guy that started the site was just on national TV and his cause is gaining momentum. What i like about his site is that he is not an extreme left winger at all, just a guy that doesn't want to see bloodshed. I'm sure everyone has their own oppinions of whether or not we should go to war. That discussion is for a different thread. Anyway, show your support if you can.

We are screwed if we do, we are screwed if we don't..

It is a different day and age.. Times have changed. The folks in the middle east can thank Bin Laden for the U.S.'s change in national security doctrine of strike first.. We didn't want this.. Bin Laden forced us into it..

Amen to that.

>We didn't want this.. Bin Laden forced us into it..

While I agree, I'd much rather use our new preemptive-invasion policy against Bin Laden and his followers than other countries.

Sure would have been nice if our last president had done this in the 90's. Maybe we would have avoided
9/11. By being proactive now, we may be preventing a new attack in the future. IMHO.

Maybe we can at least keep them on the run and making mistakes...

True; although I think that there is a greater chance that we will cause new attacks in the future with our current actions. As Rhino said, damned if you do, damned if you don't. Perhaps our actions are necessary, but if they are, we should make sure we accept the risks of doing so (including an increase in terrorist attacks) _before_ we start.

Yep.. I don't think we have nearly the intelligence set up that we need.

On another note the press should be ashamed for blowing things out of context. They are making things sound MUCH more imminent than they likely are.. Bad press!!

For the last 10 years or so we haven't attacked anyone (other than kosovo) and were fat dumb and happy here at home. Look what happened. I feel those policies obviously didn't work. If we continue with those policies we will probably be attacked again. Our best chance is to try and eliminate these known threats against us. IMO
But you are right, damned if you do, damned if you don't

Not in the UK, but will be marching tomorrow... It will be interesting to see how close to the US embassy we can get- the last time I was in a street protest that wasn't even against USA directly (it was against NATO) the fences and cops stood 100 meters from the actual embassy grounds- you'd have thought we were planning to tear it down with our bare hands;).
Edited to add; Swarley, you were trying to help Kosovo- you attacked Yugoslavia. And even that wasn't very nice...

I find it ironic.. The UK is in even more danger than the US.. At least we are across the pond...

well I feel so much better now that Iraq has made weapons of mass distruction illegal. I'm sure all you "Patriots for Peace" will sleep well knowing Iraq has changed by making this one decree.....what a joke.

Get out and jump! And quit this senseless arguing!

Would you actually talk about this shit at the dropzone over a couple of beers?! Hell no! You'd be telling jump stories and other lies!B|

Get off the computer get out to your dz and jump!

Does that mean we can go into other countries to attack Bin Laden, etc? Like that car we blew up (in Yemen?)?
