miked10270 0 #5 February 15, 2003 Hi Witchy, (Places tongue firmly in cheek...) How about "Econs" (Ex-Commies, Ok Now)? (...And removes tongue). Seriously, while I know it's not altogether accurate, why not "Russians" or "Soviets" Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Prenait la pisse hors du FrançaisCanadiens méridionaux puisqu'avant lui à la mode.
wmw999 2,588 #6 February 15, 2003 You could call them "they who would have been Soviets 20 years ago," or "from the former Soviet Union," by their particular nationalities, or Eastern Europeans and Western Asians. In 20 years, the language used to describe a people can mold both others' opinions of them, and their opinion of themselves. If we all learn the words Ukrainians, Georgians etc. automatically, then it will be easier to remember where (generally) their countries are, and that they're different.
