What would be interesting to see is instead of the typical issues generally addressed, try something far more sublte...and possibly tie it into something which is occuring today. Like the Bosnian issue (very interesting muslim/christian conflict, including war, death, concentration camps, and all that). Or the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Or perhaps even go a little more esoteric and see how mentally ill people are treated here in the US, etc. It could be a fascinating subject, if you use it to find out how you feel about some things, and why you feel that way. And writing is never ...it's always an adventure. How fun it is, or how interesting, is up to you.
