ladyskydiver 0 #1 February 17, 2003 As I leave the airport on the 13th, it is 20F in Milwaukee. All I can think of is warm Texan weather...skydiving...wandering around Texas....meeting some dz.commers. I have a lay-over in Memphis and this young gentleman gets on the plane and sits in the seat next to me. He notices the Texas tour book I have on my lap and mentions he was born in Texas. We proceed to spend the next 1 hour and 15 minutes talking about Texas - where I'd like, locations to avoid, Texas people. Very wonderful intro to Texas. Despite the rain on Friday, I ended up driving out to Austin and checking out the town, the scenery in-between Houston and Austin, and as much as possible. I never ended up making it to Skydive Houston as a result of the weather. (Oh...well....another trip to Texas needed.) I did end up getting 2 jumps in at Spaceland on Saturday. Talk about wide open areas...nice!!! Although, I did get to experience Texas mud and water...LOL - Talk about icky landings. I so need to start doing stand up landings!!! With my time in Texas, I ended up meeting Pablito, FlyBoyShell, JumperConway, Rebecca, Gemini, Cory, Steve, and many, many others. Sorry to those I'm not naming - I'm really bad at names but excellent at faces. The people that I met were very warm and welcoming and made me feel like I was at home.
