Gun Control Funny

Recommended Posts

;) That's good.

Of course, then the neighbor would be blamed for not being an upstanding citizen and offering a helping hand... *sigh* :S
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Reminds me of something I saw that suggested those in favor of gun control put a sign in front of their own home stating that the home was a gun free home.

Eh. Whatever. People have their own views, I can respect that.

Hmm. Perhaps those with guns could put up signs saying "I have two handguns under my bed in the back bedroom, but no one's home right now. Don't come in!"

Well Bill, I don't think anyone ever expected a gun to protect an empty home. Do you?

In Florida, the police recommend that you limit things like NRA stickers on cars, etc. The main targets of thieves are guns, jewelry, and cash. Guns and jewelry can be sold quickly and are of great value.

Advertising the contents of your house invites trouble. A lot of thieves ride through a neighborhood on a bicycle looking for hints like that. At bicycle speed, they can note homes for return visits.

Most home burglaries occur when the homeowner is out at work during the day.

Nope! But like the original sign, it would sure help out criminals who don't want to bother casing the place first. And it would tend to protect the original homeowner - if there's no one home, what is a criminal going to want to steal, a 90 pound TV or two handguns? Which will be more useful to him?

Besides, which is easier to get? Due to the requirements of "home defense", the guns are likely to be left out and unlocked. Because burglars are all homicidal maniacs that only come by when you are home, waiting with a gun in reach of each hand, you need to keep them out of pesky gun safes. ;)

Certainly a criminal is going to take the two handguns, they're easier to walk out with and will likely fetch a higher price than the television. You'll notice however that I never suggested that we put a sign on the door that says "Protected by Smith and Wesson - (But there's no one home so come on in!)"
