Blue Skies and Golden Knights

Recommended Posts

The U.S. Army’s Skydiving teams made the trek from Yuma Arizona this past week to train and take part in the annual Valentine’s meet at Skydive Arizona in Eloy.
Folks know that it never rains in Arizona, except when it does! Not only did it rain, it was more like monsoon season! It made for interesting weather holds, but the Golden Knights don’t mind a little rain, they are after all, soldiers first. To those that live here it is winter, yet one could catch a glimpse of the Knights in apparel that the locals wear during the scorching summer months.
The Knights took the time to engage people in conversation, and upon learning that a local reporter, which had interviewed them, intended to make her first tandem they offered to jump with her. The dive included the Knights 8-way team, the tandem and a photographer. It was a memorable experience for the reporter to be sure and she arrived on the landing area giving hugs to all. Then again what woman wouldn’t enjoy be surrounded by all of those handsome men in the air? ;)
I was met the first day with catcalls of: “Hey Monkey!” and with greetings sent in from Raeford by our own SkyMonkeyOne. I of course, wore my SkyMonkey hat with all the dignity of the Order of Monkey. I found it interesting learning the names bestowed on these men and how they acquired them. Most noteworthy was the one called “Stealth” who should have been named “Beacon”. That truly is a story that needs to be shared by that particular Monkey.
One morning as I was attempting to get some photos, I yelled out: “Hey handsome!” All nine heads turned toward me with these huge grins! I had to laugh and remark upon it, I just couldn’t let that one pass. It continued through the week as the standard greeting between us.” Hey Handsome” and “Hey Monkey” reverberated over the dropzone, and made for some interesting speculation. (No Chuckie I didn’t earn a shirt, but I did get one of the new patches!) :PLOL
It was nice to watch the black and gold in the skies over Eloy. They are a fine group of men. I am proud to have them represent our sport, and grateful that they serve our country. Here are a few pictures of the “Hey Handsome!”

Cheers!

Well, since they're all soldiers first, shouldn't they be somewhere overseas about to fight a war or something ?

Dude, your talking out your ass. Everyone of those guys is in the Army and has been pulling their share of the load BEFORE they went to the GKs. They've got it good but they are still serving their country.
