Just for general info here, the .40 S&W surpasses the .45 in terminal ballistics, and is nearly even with the .357 mag in the most effective loads (such as the 155 gr. GDHP). It may actually surpass the .357 in "stopping power" eventually, depending on advances in projectile design and manufacture.

For my money you can't beat a G23 for everyday carry. The Kar P40 is also a favorite for those days when I'm only wearing a t-shirt.

A friend of mine works law enforcement. He showed me a video recently of a guy who was shooting one of these. (At least I think it was the same weapon) It looked like most Glock pistols, yet was full automatic. When the guy fired it, brass was flying everywhere. I would imagine you would probably want this in 9 mm. Larger calibers would probably rise uncontrollably. It sounds like this would be very effective if the groups can be kept as small as you say.
