Galen 0 #1 February 20, 2003 There was a short blurb on the news last night and I don't know if I have the story right. Has anyone else heard about the following story? Apparently some Marine packers are being court martialed for, I think, cutting the risers on several main canopies forcing the jumper to have to pull the reserve. I don't know much about what the Marines jump or the gear so don't I'm not 100% sure about cutting the main risers thing but they were accused of sabotaging the gear in some way forcing hte jumper to use the reserve. pd190 0 #4 February 20, 2003 Right now, as reported by Navy/Marine Corps Times two weeks ago, (a publication for Marines and Sailors), there is one Marine in custody at the Camp Lejeune Brig for this crime. Another is suspected but charges on both are still pending. The Naval Criminal Investigative service (NCIS) and the attorneys are still getting all of their facts together. As it stands, it is suspected that both sabotaged the line groups on the main systems. In order to do this so that it wasn't visible on JMPI (jumpmaster inspections), it had to be unpacked, sabotaged, and then repack. More information is forthcoming. It was reported earlier that two Marines were in the brig, but evidence didn't support the second Marines pre-trial confinment. However, he is still in question.
