billvon 3,118 #12 February 21, 2003 >Let the next guy worry about it. This coming from the guy who said "We will not pass on our problems to other Congresses." Oh well. Perhaps the strategy is to get the deficit built up to the point that the economy collapses beneath its own debt just as the next democratic president comes into office. That way the GOP can say "See?"

I suppose I shouldn't stoke the fires of these threads like this with sarcasm. Give Turkey just about whatever they want - they are the buffer between the West and radical movements. happythoughts 0 #20 February 21, 2003 Getting them to leave is a good idea. Every good Muslim is supposed to make a pilgrimage to Mecca. Instead of spending $30 billion dollars in Turkey, how about taking advantage of Greyhounds $99-to-anywhere fare. If we put all the Iraqis on the bus to Mecca, we could do it for $2.5 billion. While they were gone, we could go over there, take over the place, use $5 billion on a toga party, trash the place, t.p. Sadams presidential palace, load up the WMD, and come home. I'm sure the plan has flaws, but at first glance, I think it's a money saver.

I wonder how many lives would be saved if this 30 billion were used in the ways listed above, and in similar ways left unmentioned. Ooo, and what's this operation costing at a whole anyway? 30 billion is probably chump change compared. Maybe we shoud just bring the war machine home, pocket all that cash, and cure cancer by next Thursday . Oh yeah, it's late afternoon on a Friday. Forgive me, work is melting my mind. There are parts of me dripping onto the keyboard and gumming up the keys.... that sounds nasty.

The only real flaw I see is getting you promoted to 4 star general in time to pull it off. Hey I am in, if you think Saddam has a big beer / wine stash at his palaces. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time...
