Hooknswoop 19 #1 February 24, 2003 The lead singer of "Great White" and some of his band members and roadies came out and did tandem jumps in 1997-1998 ish in S.C. I would have to go back through my log books to get the exact time frame. He and his crew were a blast, hanging out, funny as hell, good people. Mr. Russell liked it so much, he immediately went back up for a second jump. Hook
skycop 0 #2 February 24, 2003 Are you setting up the infamous "Tandem Defense" ? "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
Hooknswoop 19 #3 February 24, 2003 I have no clue what the "infamous tandem defense" is, I was just letting everyone know that he had made a couple of jumps and seemed like a nice guy. I haven't been following the story beyond there was a fire and everyone tried to fit though a single door in a panic and jammed it up and there was a large number of fatalities as a result. I just figured it wasn't widely known that he had jumped. Thought it would be appropiate. Hook

It was such a horrible tragedy..I don't even want to imagine those poor people. Prayers for their family and friends. Pammi
rgoper 0 #5 February 24, 2003 i've met Jack Russel several times myself, although not at the DZ, but at clubs. unlike other "rock stars" he never had that attitude, he basically a sailor at heart, he has a really cool yacht he had special built for himself. while it's tragic what happened in rhode island the other night, there's no way they can blame that entirely on Great White like they wish they could. other videos have since surfaced with other bands in that same club using pyrotechnics. i know from having performed at clubs myself, you don't do anything, anywhere without club management's permission, i have no reason to believe any differently in this instance. bottom line, pyro, or no, injuries/death/property loss or not, club owner's fault. they are responseable for "hosting" and supervising the event to make sure it's safe. my heart goes out to the lost, and injured.--Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"
