power point presentations

Recommended Posts

have a power point presentation that i worked for 9 hours + on. integrated quicktime videos and wav files that move really well together, from introduction into body of text to video.
problem is that the computers @ school are windows based, and the macs run 9.2 w/no microsoft office.
the video is quicktime and is the only aspect that won't load on a pc. which ruins the presentation.
if i bring in my desktop, what connector will i need for the slideshow presenter machines..???

If you're talking about a standard meeting-room projector then all you need is the VGA connector on your PC.

You may have to drop the resolution down to 800x600 though before you connect to the projector as most can't go over that resolution and it won't sync to the PC.

Edited to add: If your PC is a Mac, you'll need a Mac to VGA adapter as well.

Writing here as a college professor, when my students make presentations I am far more interested in the CONTENT than in the gee-whiz tech stuff. I find that students often get carried away with the animations and sound effects, because it's more fun to do than the actual research on the topic.

Writing as a former college student, I can say that when you don't know anything about the assigned topic, it's better to have the gee-whiz that was neat fact than the gee whiz he's an idiot factor. Enough of the former was, from time to time, sufficient to disguise the latter.

This has nothing to do with it being a Mac or Intel base Microsoft. Office needs to be installed on the Mac, Or Quicktime needs to be installed on the Microsoft PC. [/url]http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
Quicktime is a free download but you might need admin access to install it.

well. I hauled all my fuckin gear in to school because the mac version of power point does not have a "pack and go" feature. so i packed it all in the car, and it was raining.
gave the presentation and it smoked the other slide shows that only used imbedded program graphics and fonts.
I'd like to thank all the skydivers I ripped video from on the net to make my school presentation a success, as well as quinten taritino and the makers of south park, jack nicholson and various others who were my wavs.
the hot girl in the class did hers on glass blowing, and was creative enough to zoom in on aspects of her glass so that the goblins and faces and what not did'nt look like pipes.
I was going to coment on how nicely they were all colored in, but declined to comment.
it was funny thought seeing a face with a "carb" hole in it.
no video in nobody elses show's. lazy cabbages.
now i'm all set up again at home, and discovered i could do some interesting stuff with my display settings so now i've got a warm yellow glow, so i don't go blind when at the tool stool for extended periods.
