You are too funny!:D I received it as an email. It gave me the creeps, as I hate snakes. I thought you guys would like it though:S.

A snake is pretty rare... but there's a long and proud history of critters getting into computers. This is exactly why a computer 'glitch' is called a 'bug'.

Bugs are rarely caused by critters anymore, critters tend to cause casterophic failure, like in this case.

However, I did once see a laptop that had a cronic overheating problem. It turned out a family of ants had taken up residency...

They like living in computers because of the warmth of the electronics.

The best way to keep critters out of your PC is to keep them out of your house.

My ears are still ringing from the ear piercing bloody murder scream she let out......:S:D

I know, I will never look at the tower on my computer the same way, because I will always see those pictures!:S Snakes are one of my 'fears'!

Ivan,

I do live in the city. A small city of about 25,000 people but the city nontheless.

As for keeping critters out of my house I have a pest control guy who comes once a quarter to spray everything inside and out.

UM, not sure about the adder thing but if it is a snake it MUST be deadly so I don't care I am an equal opportunity snake hater.

Lol...It's true. My neighbor tried to convince me one night that her late husband was actually the one that coined the term "bug". He was a CEO of compaq in the 70's and early 80's..anyway, she was telling a story about one night he was working with some other woman running the computer system..yayaya. (lots of wine consumed that night can't remember exact details) anyway, the woman said "Bob..there is a problem, something is not connecting.." so he went through the system and found a moth or something stuck and cutting off the circuit path..anyway, "I found the problem...there was a bug in the system"...:S Voila. Or so she says...

I don't know if that is the person responsible, but that is supposed to be the true story.

I was doing tech support for a large company. The customer kept complaining about a drive going down. We noticed nicks in the cabling and suggested a rat problem. The customer denied it. The drive had its own blower and started overheating. The blower was a spinning, notched, cylinder (think spinning cheese grater here). The overheating was caused by a "gummy" substance stuck to the blower. We peeled it off, laid it on a sheet of paper and informed the customer that the rat problem was solved. :P
