It's going to depend on your age, your years of experience in driving an RV (or lack therof), your deductibles and all those other variables, along with the stated value of the RV.

It really isn't all that much for RV insurance; we pay slightly more per a 6-month period for my PT Cruiser and TLML's Neon than we do for our 36' diesel RV.

Do check around, Progressive has good rates in a lot of states. Do join Good Sam and sign up for the catalogs from Camping World, both have insurance programs available. We got GMAC's insurance through Good Sam and are saving a bunch this year.

PM me if you have any other ?s.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

the way that is worded is that he cars are only a little more than if you were just paying for the rv.... did ya mean it's only a little more with the rv included???? i'm not looking for comp and colision just liability... hopfully that should bring it down...

The actual breakdown is that the PT costs the most, then that RV, then the Neon.

That is for full coverage; unless yo are paying cash up front, you will need to have it to placate your leinholder, if not, they will buy it and bill you for it -- and you won't like the rates at all!

I took it to mean that the cost of insurance on two cars is a little more than the cost of insurance on an RV.

Edit: And it looks like I was wrong.

Yea, I guess I was a bit unclear.

I was surprised when we got our first RV at how little the insurance was, especially given the cost of the the vehicle. But it makes sense when you think about it, because the insurance industry figures that there is far less actual road use of the RV then of a car, and while a claim in case of an accident will probably be much higher than with a car, statistically, there is a much lower chance of a claim with an RV.

We actually pay more than many others because we pay a premium as fulltimers, i.e. we live in our RV, but that premium is not all that much, only about $150 last year.
