dbattman 0 #1 February 28, 2003 It has finally arrived. This is the perfect excuse that I have been looking for to get back into flying myself on my job. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030228/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/airport_security_13 Announcing the arrival of 'Badcredit Airlines.' Government given you a red flag? Got a strange bank draft on you account record? No problem! All flight applications accepted! Of course, this would probably be backwards. If you have a great credit history and a healthy account record you won't fly since real Americans have bankruptcy, past due accounts, and repossessions. PhreeZone 20 #5 February 28, 2003 Suddenly took out a bunch of loans or tried to buy/rent houseing in different cities? It'll show on your credit report. TheRus 0 #6 February 28, 2003 If my credit was somehow related to how much of a terrorist threat I pose the FBI would have had me shot and burried under Ft. Levinworth a LONG time ago! Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. Leave our rain, a cold trade for warm sunshine You my friend, I will defend... and if we change, well, I love you anyway
Sebazz1 2 #7 February 28, 2003 Maybe if the computer scans your credit and notices you just ate at a Middle Eastern restaurant in the past 48 hours you may be a suspect. Or if you went to a French restaurant they might just hassle you for a while. Or if you just ate at a Mexican restaurant.... It's all very stupid to me. cgross 1 #12 February 28, 2003 The Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System II (CAPPS II) is designed to scan multiple public and private databases for information on individuals traveling into and out of the United States. The system will feed the results to an analysis application that mathematically ranks travelers' potential as security threats. A brainchild of the Transportation Department's Transportation Security Administration (TSA), CAPPS II is a quantum expansion of the current system used to identify potential terrorists attempting to board airplanes. In addition to accessing FBI, National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and State Department databases, CAPPS II is expected to spider IRS, Social Security Administration, state motor vehicle and corrections department, credit bureau and bank records. CAPPS II will collect data and rate each passenger's risk potential according to a three-color system: green, yellow, red. The vast majority of passengers will be rated green and won't be subjected to anything more than normal checks, while yellow will get extra screening and red won't fly. We've had CAPPS I since January 1998-instituted in response to the 1996 crash of TWA 800 and the Atlanta Olympics bombing, both initially thought to have been terrorist related. CAPPS I screening is based on address, travel history, criminal records, and other unspecified information about passengers-a few dozen variables in all. Nine to 11 of the 19 hijackers on Sept. 11 were flagged by CAPPS, but weren't searched because the system gave a pass to passengers who didn't check their bags, Hudson said. People without checked bags now are included.

cameramonkey 0 #14 March 1, 2003 Quote... People without checked bags now are included. DUHHHH!!!! When was the last time YOU flew somewhere commercial and didnt need to check a bag? Seems to me the ones without baggage should be the most suspicious. But then again, what do I know. I was told by the govt I wasnt qualified to work for them. Apparently I have been known to think for myself (logically at that) too many times. Not very likely... at least not if you have ever tried to get thru the masses at the baggage carousel... seems then like not only everyone on your flight checked bags, but half the city had freinds send bags for them via the airlines to them. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO! skycat 0 #15 March 1, 2003 I've flown quite a few times for work and pleasure where I was going to be gone for a day or 2 so I only brought an over night bag with a change of clothes and was able to put it all in a carry on. Grab "e-ticket" get it stamped at the gate get on plane. I haven't flown since all this TSA stuff started and Derek and I have been throwing around the idea of getting a 182 so we don't have to deal with any of it.Fly it like you stole it! PhreeZone 20 #16 March 1, 2003 Kelli, get a 172... If I had my licence I would do that in a heart beat. Its more expensive for the flights I'm looking at and longer, but it would be worth it to me. I flyy about every other month for work then every other month or so to see Jessica. I've done a few over night trips where all I took was my laptop, a pilots case with a change of clothes, shoes and personal items. I know a lot of people in my comapany only are in town for 2 days so it makes total sense for a carry on to avoid the baggage hassle. I hate the fact that they are now opening my luggage in airports in view of everyone. I don't want the world to know what I've packed. I was disturbed to see the TSA opening a wrapped gift since it was a large metal box (it was film box) that they could'nt see inside. This guy was going to have to re wrap the gift on the plane. Although our DZOs personal 182 is quite a nice little bird and has no problem climbing with a full load of rigs, rigging tools, and over night gear, (he picks us up Saturday mornings so we don't have to drive 2 hrs to the DZ) even on a super hot summer dayFly it like you stole it!
