billvon 3,120 #1 February 28, 2003 So I'll be in Boston (Cambridge actually) next week interviewing people at MIT for my company. Anyone live out there?
jessd 0 #2 February 28, 2003 I live about 45 mins south of Boston. What are your plans while here aside from interviewing. You should definitely check out the city if you've never been here before. billvon 3,120 #3 February 28, 2003 I lived there for four years, but I'm sure it's all different now. I remember Pizzeria Regina, Crossroads the pizza place, Santarpio's (notice a theme?) and of course all the really cheap chinese places in Cambridge. I bet the Hong Kong is still in Harvard Square though.
pilotdave 0 #4 February 28, 2003 I suggest stopping at a place called Burdick's chocolate in harvard square. White hot chocolate... MMMMMMMMMMM! They also sell chocolate by the pound. $42 per pound last I checked. Dave
kiltboy 0 #5 February 28, 2003 My Fiancee loves that stuff, the hot chocolate is really rich. Bring a hat and gloves Bill it's bloody freezing up here. David
jessd 0 #6 February 28, 2003 QuoteI remember Pizzeria Regina Pizzeria Regina has the best pizza. I have lived in this area my whole life and I just recently (about 2 years ago) discovered this place. All I thought when I went there was that I had been missing out all this time. Plus, the location is just a really cool part of the city. billvon 3,120 #8 February 28, 2003 >Fucking educated bastards....modern fucking aristocracy...ever been > to the other side of the river? Of course! Crossroads was our favorite pizza place, more for the cheap beer than the pizza (which wasn't great.) We always seemed to end up there after the bar crawls. And of course there was Fenway, where you could to watch the Citgo sign. I was amazed last time I was there. Central square (between Harvard and MIT) is actually nice now. It used to be a place that women simply didn't go alone. Cheap Chinese food though. --bill von (educated pizza-eating bastard)
Muenkel 0 #9 February 28, 2003 Bill, Would you do me a favor while you are there? Do a quick assessment on the progress of the Big Dig and see if you can estimate a final price and completion date. You may be the only human who can figure that one out. Thanks, Chris _________________________________________ Chris
AggieDave 6 #10 February 28, 2003 You would do better having Johnny Carson guess the price with the answer in the envolope... "Too much and it'll never be done..." *rip* "The big dig!" "Heeey-OOOO...Yes, You are correct Sir!"--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

jessd 0 #13 February 28, 2003 Quoteprogress of the Big Dig Yeah. The good old Big Dig. Everytime I go into the city I have to take a different route to get there. Wasn't this project supposed to be done like years ago? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..." JDBoston 0 #14 February 28, 2003 I live in Central Square/Cambridgeport. Drop me a line if you're around and want to grab a beer. There are a couple of neat little haunts that have opened up in recent years, and of course, there's always The Thirsty Ear. Central Square is definitely gentrifying a bit, though it still has lots of discount stores. And I hope the Big Dig is never completed, because if it is I think Boston's entire economy will collapse. I'm looking for a job and they're one of the few places that lists that they're looking for aerospace engineers. What do they do and is it a good place to work? cgross 1 #17 March 2, 2003 Lincoln Laboratory is one the the worlds leading laboratory in MANY fields. A good deal of the projects we work with, I am not at liberty to say, but look through this site, it may answer some questions for you. http://www.ll.mit.edu/
