Pammi 0 #1 April 11, 2002 I watched a pretty cool show the last weekend about the Golden Knights. It had Joan (Collins I think?? The blonde news lady) doing the wind tunnel then doing a couple of tandems with them while they did a formation on the second one. But it was neat to watch her talk about things she was finding out, like how little you need to change body position to totally change how you fly and such. She seemed to really dig it too. It was a pretty good little show.(It was funny...I didn't even know it was on, and our son came running in to where Merrick and I was watching TV yelling "Skydiving is on!!!!" hehe)New pin jewelry! 174fps 1 #3 April 11, 2002 that would be Joan Lunden in Behind closed DoorsI liked that episode , also the one where she goes to 60000'in a jet, that then has an aircraft emergency. (looses main battery power)AndrewPs I doubt if Joan Collins would skydive.
SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 April 11, 2002 Hey Clay, can you believe that they didn't know that was me instructing her in the tunnel? I mean damn, there were subtitles and everything.Actually, that show has been re-run at least 25 times since the initial showing. We filmed it two Septembers ago. The pisser was that they completely misconstrued the sequence of events. She had already made the two tandems before she showed up at the tunnel. Me and Mike Payne flew her in there for about an hour. We only had to keep her on the tether for about two minutes, then just basically AFF'd her for a bit. They edited out a tremendous amount of footage. Ken Casens from the GK media relations office shot the POV footage after we flew Joan. What they didn't show at all was the three guys we had flying in their next with full combat equipment. You see, the wind tunnel footage, complete with the MFF team stuff, was supposed to have been shown in the "behind closed doors with Army Special Forces" edition. For whatever reason, they took creative license and edited it to look like it was the knights that flew her in the tunnel and that the tunnel came before the tandems.(It was not. It was myself and Mike Payne, both of us from USAJFKSWC) Whatever. At any rate, Joan Lunden was a good student and did quite well. She only got spit out the one time (right on top of me). Pammi 0 #9 April 11, 2002 I can't believe I didn't figure out it was you Monkey! Duh! I didn't even notice the captions Very cool! She seemed to be doing okay with it and seemed genuine when she was cheering about how fun it was. New pin jewelry!
SkyMissy 0 #10 April 11, 2002 I missed the show, but did catch the trailer the other day. They said, "See Joan Lunden become the FIRST CIVILIAN to ever jump with the Army's Golden Knights." I rolled. I had no Idea that David Hasselhoff, and the numerous other "guests" of the knights were actually black ops personnel planted in places of influence, yada, yada, yada.....Love that press!I'm not the man they think I am at home, no;I'm a rocket man.Sky World
mountainman 0 #11 March 1, 2003 Holy thread resurrection, Batman !!! A buddy of mine lent me a video that had the title Army 182nd Airborn on it. I started watching it just a bit ago and saw Joan Lundon on there watching them, going through the "training" stuff (the fun stuff) and then she went into the tandem/wind tunnel. Some guy was laying on a bench and another guy was pointing out his body position. When this guy started showing her how to do the turns and such, I felt I knew that guy. WTF ?!? It was SkyMonkeyONE !!! Well, I am posting these in here so we don't have a repost, but here are some stills I took from it for those who didn't see it. You can see Sgt. Chuck Blue in the glory days. Have a good one all ! Chuck - it is too bad they cut so much stuff out. I would have liked to see all of the extra footage with people with heavy payloads. Those paratroopers flip me out watching them land. OUCH !!! http://www.brandonandlaura.com

LouDiamond 1 #13 March 2, 2003 That whole "behind closed doors" ordeal was a pain in the ass. They should of called it "kissing Joan Lundens ass". We were supposed to take her out on the driving track but she never showed for the classroom portion so she was SOL. "It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
