Airblades

Recommended Posts

Reggie Eastaugh makes the "real" airblades, but several others make a fine replica. Personally, I got mine from E.G. SkySystems. Edgardo operates out of Sky's the Limit in Newton, New Jersey (unless he has recently moved). I paid $60 a piece for my 12 footers, which is MUCH cheaper than Reggie's. Several other people also make them, including Joey Costa down at Thomaston (at least he did when his team was jumping at CSS).

For custom made, top quality Air Blades, contact

Chris Kelly at:
Wind Sign
P.O. Box 188
2095 Goetz Road
Perris, CA
92570
Phone: (909) 657-2676
FAX: (909) 657-3747
www.windsign.com

Since Wind Sign Inc. is co-holder of the Air Blade patent, Chris is the only person - other than Reggie - who can legally build air blades. All the rest of them are building illegal, unlicensed copies and are spreading bad karma.
Apparently Reggie is out of the country. so the only people who are legally build air blades are Wind Sign Inc.

I couldn't have said it any better. Thanks Rob.

While I like Reggie, he blew me off completely at two meets last year (plus would not return e-mail or phone calls) when I tried to buy six blades from him. This at his attrocious $200 per unit price for the two large blades I had to have. Thanks, but I needed them this century, and I can deal with the "bad karma". I more than turn that around with the 15 years of free instruction I have given back to the sport.

Can you really patent a wind blade? I'll buy that they trademarked the term or something, but I'm not sure you could actually patent the idea.
I don't really know much about patents though.... but that just doesn't sound right.
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

Yes...I believe it's Mercedes (might be wrong) that holds the patent on crumple zones in cars, they just don't enforce it. You can patent just about anything.

You can patent almost anything, but that doesn't mean the patent will withstand challenge. The patent office is overwhelmed by filings and often can't find relevant prior art or are mislead in the prosecution of the patent. This leads to a lot of patents granted that are unenforcable, or invalid. For a patent to be valid, it must be both novel and non-obvious. I don't have any idea if this is true for the airblades, but it is possible this is why other parties are manufacturing knockoffs with impunity.

other parties are manufacturing knockoffs with impunity. because Reggie (and Wind Signs) have neither the time nor the money to prosecute rip off artists.
In North America a patent is only valid if the holder is willing to devote lots of time and lawyers to defending his patent.
For example, P,D. has scared several "Slink" copiers off the market , by threatening to sue them.

www.Airblades.com was the offical page of Reggies company but now its a dead page that the lease expired on earlier this month.

Those are not always up-to-date, Phree. My jumpinduo.com says that it expired in november, however i've paid the money, talked to the host and have talked to the registry company (Names4ever) and they all tell me it is paid for and registered. It is just not updated in their database.

Way off topic here but if I or some one wanted to all they would have to do is appeal to Internic and they can claim ownership for an expired domain with very little hastle. Nice thing about owning the master DB is you control what goes into it.

The way they explained it to me was if someone were to go into the master database, it would show up to them as taken. Even though the website isn't up to date on it, it would still be to them.

Either way... if someone took Jumpinduo.com, I guess that would save me $10 per month and $35 per year for renewal. [:/] LOL

That pisses me off because I have called several times and they've told me that it is OK. It just never changes. Grrr... >:(

BTW... what is a "master DB" that you speak of ?

Doesn't it seem weird that a computer/internet/database company can't get the thing updated instantly, or even in a timely matter. I know little about these computer thingies but that just smells fishy[:/]
