PLFKING 4 #51 December 12, 2002 Well....I thought I was going to be the old man on this thread, until I read Jack's reply...Age 42 in 2000, s/l. And the crazy thing is, i was only planning on doing one jump. Did s/l cause i wanted to do it on my own. "Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." jessd 0 #55 December 12, 2002 I've only done a couple tandems so far. First one in August of this year - age 24. I'm going to start AFF in the spring. I can't wait. I wish I had done my first tandem last spring. "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..." rgoper 0 #57 December 12, 2002 i was 40 when i started skydiving. i had a birthday 12/11/2002, do the math. i'm actually quite glad i started at an older age, i can tell you for fact i would be dead many years had i started the sport at age 18. i'm a type a personality the way it is. i tend to be more and more conservative the older i get, as you see i've lived long enough to realize my mortality! --Richard-- "We Will Not Be Shaken By Thugs, And Terroist"

lippy 918 #60 December 12, 2002 Quote I started when I was 19, now I am a 20 year old that is 5000 bucks in debt cuz of my rig I did my first hundred on student gear. Bought a rig this year and did 109 over the season. Jump with gear rental = $65. Just for a slot = $26. 65-26=$39 saved per jump. $39x109= $4251 saved b/c of gear. Gear is an investment, and not a cheap one at that. But if you stick with the sport, it will pay for itself. And, it's probably a lot more fun than student gear tooOh, I started when I was 18I got nuthin

waster 0 #68 December 12, 2002 Did my first three s/l jumps when i was 16. Waited a while, about a year; then started another s/l course, absolutely loved it and here i am slowly working my way up to A licence! The great thing is that when i reach the average age that most people start skydiving( 25 isn't it?), i will have a hellva lot of jumps and experience, kick ass!! pack40 0 #69 December 12, 2002 I was 23 when I started. Why does many of you say that started skydiving with a tandem jump? You consider tandem jump as a skydive? Yes for the TM it is, but for the ballast? Than I can say I am a pilot because when I was 6 an airline pilot let me in into the cocpit. Once somebody did a tandem jump with me, but even that time -BEFORE I started jumping- I was polite enough not to refer it as a jump. IMHO tandem is a good way of demonstrating the sport for those scared, old, medically not fit people who would never jump or can not jump alone.
