Bin Laden Capture RUMOR

Recommended Posts

There seems to be a rumor circulating right now that the Israelis have captured Bin Laden. I am not encouraging it, simply sharing in the hope that good karma will make it true ;):D

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/2825653.stm

Isreali radio announced it earlier today, that Bush was expected to announce it tonight. There is a link to the Jerusalem Post, but their server is slashdotted http://www.jpost.com/

Me really wonders and hopes.

So? It's not like al-Qaeda will fall apart without him. It might be good for morale or something, but it'd be more of a symbolic victory anyway. From what I hear, he's about to die anyway from some kidney problem or something - I forget exactly what it was.

The best thing that GWB could announce is that OBL was found dead after committing suicide when faced with imminent capture based on the information provided by his recently arrested #3 guy who gave him up during “mild” questioning … no martyrdom, just cowardice.

So?

So???
Wouldn't it be nice to catch the guy suspected of murdering 3000 people?
Chris

They already did. That Khalid Shaikh Mohammed guy had more to do in actually pulling it off than OBL did. Or at least that's what they say.

If OBL is in custody, a formal trial, a la Adolf Eichmann, would allow him the opportunity to answer a lot of questions in public as well as in private. And he'd likely come off looking like a complete idiot.

If we handle it according to our CURRENT laws (say, the way we did with Moussaoui), rather than making up special new ones, then we'll demonstrate that we walk the walk, we don't just talk the talk.

As far as I know, there hasn't been a wave of protests about our treatment of Moussaoui, because he's been treated basically the same as other criminals, and allowed to make himself look like an ass. Which he's succeeded at quite admirably, too.

Of course, my hope is that there is a LOT of questioning before then. And that we learn a whole lot about how to use family money to finance an international terror campaign in the interests of religious self-aggrandizement. I'd volunteer to help.

Oh, absolutely. But since my wishes are likely to have little impact on what happens to OBL, it doesn't cost much to go ahead and say it...

WTF?? I haven't heard anything about it, and I couldn't find it in your link. What would Bin Laden be doing in or near Israel?

00:20 | Bush to focus on need to disarm Saddam in special press conference

By THE JERUSALEM POST INTERNET STAFF

White House officials have dispelled rumors that US President George W. Bush will announce the capture of Osama Bin Laden at a press conference he will be giving at 03:00 Israel time from the White House.

Bush is expected however to announce progress in the hunt for Bin Laden.

White House spokespeople said that President Bush chose to speak at 20:00 Washington time, during prime time TV, in order to explain to the American people the need for the use of force to disarm Saddam Hussein of weapons of mass destruction.

The spokespeople added that Bush will not declare war at the press conference, reports Israel Radio.

Hey speedracer, that link changed throughout the day. The original test was much different. I dont if they have him or not, or are simply getting close. But even if they do, I would expect them to wait for several weeks to say anything.

If this is true you know he will be an illegial alien here that will be in line for a transplant. Maybe we could give himthe wrong type, kill him, then be sued for malpractice. :S
