TEB6363 0 #27 March 7, 2003 You've made it to California before. This time, drive down from WA. I did the drive last summer up to see my Aunt and Uncle in Sequim (Olympic Penn.). You can stop at some beautiful places on the way down. Jump in Monterey (Hey, $18 to 18K this weekend) and then drive to Peris and back. There would be some very beautiful views.... Once the plane takes off, you're gonna have to land - Might as well jump out!!

chopchop 0 #29 March 7, 2003 Tom's got a great idea. It's a gorgeous drive - I did a roundtrip from SF to Seattle in October - and there are like a dozen great dzs to visit between Kapowsin and Otay... Suddenly, I'm jealous.. chopchop gotta go... Plaything needs a spanking.. Lotsa Pictures
skymama 37 #30 March 7, 2003 I'm kinda liking that idea too. I'm a little nervous about packing the kids off on a plane by themselves across the country. I could spend a few days doing relative work, and then take off on a little side trip down to San Fran, and then come back to fly home with them! Ok, if I did that, who would I find along the way to play with me?She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

Sebazz1 2 #35 March 7, 2003 She's a nice stalker. Not one of those mean ones. But truthfully a trip from Washington down the west coast sounds awesome! Something I will look into myself. You would be able to find a great balance of skydiving and non skydiving activities. Of course when you are in in the bay area if you do come, people will be pulling you in many directions to be at their DZ, here, there, everywhere. The problem with having 5 twin turbine dz's all within 2-3 hours of eachother. Though you live in Florida, you probably already know something about that. If you want the low down on all the DZ's call me or PM me...Hope to see you in June!!
Snowwhite 0 #36 March 7, 2003 I'm with the Australia suggestion. The whole darned place is just gorgeous, and the exchange rate rocks! If it says 30 bucks, it's about 15 to 17 American. GO!! YOU CAN BOOK CHEAP FLIGHTS RIGHT NOW!! They have all kinds of cheap hotels up and down the coasts, and you will never see bluer skies....I wanna go BAAAAACCCCKKKskydiveTaylorville.org freefallbeth@yahoo.com
mountainman 0 #37 March 7, 2003 Hi Andrea: Sounds like a great idea you have to take that trip ! I certainly wish you luck. They are really hard to decide on. I would go with that western drive trip. It sounds really awesome. The only thing to watch out for is how many miles you can put on a rental car and how far away from the place you can take it. Just be sure to ask first. Or, a nice trip to Chicago would be fun for the different DZs. Chicagoland is awesome too. As long as you like crapass traffic, Chicago is the place for you. Have a good trip ! PS: Australia/NZ would be a bit expensive since she's trying to keep it cheaper. LOL http://www.brandonandlaura.com

racer42 0 #40 March 8, 2003 If you mean Washington state. the best thing to do is drop the kids off. Then make your way to dowtown Seattle. From there you can take the Washington State ferries to BC or south eastern Alaska. It's basically public transportation in that region. The San Juan islands are really something. I believe that is the best time of the year to see the whale migration It's a really spiritual place.L.A.S.T. #24 Co-Founder Biscuit Brothers Freefly Team Electric Toaster #3 Co-Founder Team Non Sequitor Co-Founder Team Happy Sock

hooked 0 #42 March 8, 2003 There was a few suggestions of coming with your kids to WA then going to SF. Great idea. Then driving or flying back to WA to go home with the kids. I don't know how you feel about the drive, but......leaving WA, (several dropzones here), stopping in Oregon to skydive, and driving along the Oregon Coast is absolutely beautiful. It wouldn't be that far off the course to stop and skydive along the way. Oregon has a beautiful coastline into California. San Francisco and Monterrey are really nice with lots to see and do! WA also has the San Jaun Islands, a must see! J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings. How about this: Drop off the kids, spend one afternoon with them to make sure they're settled. Go to Kapowsin and hook up with gorgeous Dave whatshisname. Jump for a day, and hang around that night. Talk Jan into going with you, and get her behind in the air. Then rent a car, and drive the coast down to Narcimunds. Hook up with him for some jumps, and make him cook you one of those feasts he's always bragging about. Then, head on south to Northern CA, and hook up with Chop Chop, Deuce, Sebazz, Lummy, Cornholio, Jams, and many other dz.com denizens for about 4 days at the area dz. Exhausted, drop the car off at the airport, and fly back to WA...cruise the San Juan Islands, hit the waterfront in Seattle, and cross back up into Vancouver. Jump there and visit Frank/Iflyme, and the other Vancouverians (???) and jump one more day there...and then back to catch the kids, and go home and rest.... That's something I'd do - tour the west coast.... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

hooked 0 #45 March 8, 2003 Michele, You really have this one planned don't you? It sounds really nice, how about it Andrea? Kapowsin, gorgeous Dave , whatshisname (Weid14) on to Oregon for a feast and some great scenery, meet all the other DZ.commers in CA, then cruise the San Juans (a stay for a night, perhaps at Friday Harbor), Vancouver (beautiful city!) then back to get the kids!!!! edit: to add, yes, the waterfront in Seattle!! You'll fall in love with the view and Pike Place Market! (providing we have a nice day) J -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings. skymama 37 #46 March 8, 2003 Thanks for all of your advice, you all, and especially Michele for planning out my itinery! I've already been to the Seattle area twice to visit these relatives so I've done all the regular touristy things, and have already been to BC on the ferry. It would be nice to hit Vancouver with the kids though. Jumping in Kapowsin and seeing my old buddy, gorgeous Dave whatshisname (boy is his head going to get huge with that!), is definitely high on the list. And, I'd love to jump with Zennister too as long as he doesn't bring that RW suit near me! Driving down the coast and stopping in Oregon to visit sounds great if Narci can come out. I'd probably want to spend the bulk of my time in San Fran because there are so many dz's and dz.commers there. And, there seems to be so much to do there besides skydiving. Everyone I've ever known who has gone to San Fran has had a great time, so I'm really considering this trip. I've already mentioned it to the kids too and they were psyched.
