Where should I go?

Recommended Posts

My aunt and uncle just invited my kids to spend 2 weeks with them in June up in WA. So, I'm thinking that it would be a perfect time for ME to head out of town somewhere. But, I need some ideas! Here are the prerequisites:

-It can't be in the southern US, I'm tired of the south. I'm up for going out west, up north or overseas though.
-It doesn't necessarily have to include skydiving, although it would be nice.
-It has to be affordable because the whole trip will have to be done with credit cards. It's going to kill me to have to use them, but you only live once, right?
-It has to have interesting things to go see and do. No laying around on the beach for a week for this girl!

Any ideas of some great places to go in June?

I only know of one place that doesn't accept credit cards. And most of the jumpers avoid that place since the owner fired one of our friends from there for no reason. Most resturaunts I have been to over the past 6 years in Ottawa have taken plastic. Where did you go that you couldn't use it? R. Groto?

Really good Pizza restaurant downtown, The indian restaurant, and that kick ass expensive Italian restaurant (Not pizza real italian food). Dont know the names of any of them, but they were all good food, but add a team from florida that lives off Atm cards and there is a problem, we had to send someone to walgreens, (yep no bank of America in that town) to get money each time.

Ron if you read this do you maybe you can remamber the names of some of them.

You have that promise of extra altitude if I'm flying.

Ooooh, now how are any of the other suggestions going to compete with that!

Well, Wildblue did offer you his couch...

Silly me, how could I forget the couch? :S But, the couch is in Ohio, isn't it? How far away is it from Chicago?

WA? Are you referring to the state or the District?

Without traffic it's 4 hours from Chicago. With traffic you may as well bring a book to read in your car.

cairns austrailia. you'll have the best scuba diving in the world, The great Barrier Reef & a couple of chill fun jumper dz's. ohh yeah, did I mention that everything there is dirt cheap? you'll eat and drink for chump change and be eating and drinking really well. I did a 4 day/night scuba dive trip to the reef, which included a nice stateroom and advanced training multiple night dives for under 400 bucks. @ DeepSea Divers Den. they rock! and the place to eat is the Cock & Bull resturant.. GO there!! Cairns is beautiful. for 35 bucks you can go on a one day sail boat trip that will take you for a cruise w/stops for snorkling and a drop off at a white sand island, small w/no vegitation just the prettiest blue water you'll ever lay eyes on. and theres kayaking trips that go in and out of reef mazes that reach the surface. i ran out of cash otherwise i would have done that..
did i mention that Cairns rocks!?!?! I 've got to go back...

I'm referring to the state. I'd go out there to, but I've already been there a few times and besides, they didn't invite me, only the kids!

Oh, Dave, you play so dirty!
So, what's there to do in Scotland in June?

I like all the ideas so far, and I'm also thinking I'd like to go to San Francisco. What to do, what to do....it's probably going to come down to how many people are willing to put up with me!

Honestly if you have never been to Vancouver (and west coast BC) you need to come. First of all you could do a little skydiving, we have a great DZ most beautiful views and a nice King Air. Secondly, the amount of stuff to do here is amazin. Also a huge factor is what your money is worth here. Think about an item that is $100.00 costing you $65.00. You can go from Vancouver to Vancouver Island, to Whistler, to Sunshine Coast. ANyway as you can tell I firmly believe I live in the most beautiful and entertaining spot on earth.

come to eastern canada! see the world's highest tides (whoopee.), see a really long bridge (wheeee.), go on a whale watching tour (never tired it, but it seems like fun), see the flower pot rocks (oh boy, rocks), jump out of a 182 and enjoy the sights! lots of camping and outdoorsy stuff to do.

just remember, your $1 is $1.50 here! B|

I have a spare bedroom with attached bath. Jumpers always welcome. Although, you may have to put up with a bunch of skydivers coming around for dinner and wine on occasion... in Brisbane, 3 miles from S.F.

Western Montana is nice in June. You can see Glacier and Yellowstone Parks. The main jump places are Lost Prairie, Stevensville, and Billings. It might mean jumping a Cessna though. All are kind of small scale with Lost Prairie being the biggest. There is one boogie at the end of June at Chico Hot Springs (near Yellowstone Park). I think the boogie at Starr, Idaho is the same weekend. Both will have turbine aircraft. Gregg Nardi has been bringing his king Air to Stevensville (one weekend a month) during the summer. He flies it up from Florida to visit his daughter in Missoula. If you get to Stevensville look me up. I hope to be there in June. Steve1
