i had a chance to watch this movie this weekend. they did a nice diving scene w/ mike in it. all in all it was a pretty good movie. i was happy to see that scene it was the right thing to do for the movie makers, and a good tribute to our lost friend.
blue ones mike.....
if fun were easy it wouldn't be worth having, right?

I won't watch it for two reasons.

1. Bruce Willis is a hypocrite

2. One of my skydiving brothers died (and another one nearly did) making him look good on film.

I won't watch "xXx" for the same reason. That and Vin Diesel locomotive is way overrated as an actor.

Yeah there was a lot of negative press floating in the back channels about XXX, indicating that the director was at fault, but I guess nothing ever came of it?

Edit:I did not realize someone died making this movie. Blue Ones! But it looks pretty unrealistic anyway, just like Behind Enemy Lines

I saw it too i thought it sucked. The acting was horrible, the plot was unrealistic - defying the orders of your commander, putting your team at unncessasary risk to do something you weren't even supposed to do? .. bleh -- i am not military though my dad is, so I know that stuff is crap. Previews were much better.

It was slow too.

Yeah, behind enemy lines was the same way. The dialog was just laughable. It was like they painted a picture of what they though a caring military would or something. It was just retarded, Tears of the Sun's plot looked much the same. Instead watch:

Das Boot
The Great Escape
Guns of Navarone
Bat21
Blackhawk Down <- definitely

Might not be totally realistic, but closer and more entertaining.

Theme done to death too:

Yeh blackhawk down was intense...

I liked behind enemy lines, even though I knew it was a little flaky.. it was well done in the cinemetography. The whole "incident" in behind enemy lines I thought was awesome! (the part where the plane gets shot down) -- that's the CGI (computer graphics) nerd in me.. the dvd shows how much of that scene is computer generated.. simply amazing.

Tears of the sun sucked in the cinemetography as well

Just watched Saving Private Ryan on HBO/Cinemax (whatever), and didn't realize it before, but Vin was in that movie. Best movie he will probably ever be in, and no one will remember it.

Definitely Bat21, too. One of the best movies I ever saw.

>I just can't seem to bring myself to go to this film.

It was very hard for me to watch XXX, and especially watch the scene in which Harry died. I didn't expect it to affect me like it did, but I guess that I realized that I was watching the last few moments of his life right there on the silver screen, presented as entertainment. I was both happy to see him doing what he loved right up to the end, and kind of amazed that thousands would watch this movie and never know the guy who gave his life so the stunts looked cool - or even that anyone had died at all.

A bunch of us smuggled some beer into the movie and toasted him during his scenes; I'm sure that the other people in the theatre thought we were nuts. I thought it was a fitting tribute, and I thought it was touching that they dedicated the movie to him.

We did that too. Actually, I think you were the one that gave us the idea/ask every one to do it. :)

Fair is fair. He did an okay job in "Pitch Black". Just goes to show you how a mediocre actor can look good if he has a well-written script; however, I doubt Vin Diesel locomotive will be doing any Shakespeare like his "Pitch Black" co-star did before going into TV and features...
