skygod7777 0 #1 March 11, 2003 what's up. let me give ya a little backround on my knee. like a year ago, i was jumping a heatwave 120 and a 97 vengence on and off (the vengences wasn't mine). and on one jump, i went up, and hooked, and hooked the vengence at the same altitude i hooked my heatwave. needless to say, i hit, HARD. at my dz we had 100 ft in diameter pea gravel, and i hit on one side, and when i hit again, i was on the other side with a wrap and a half a line twist. and i didn't break anything (i don't think, everyone else did, but i wouldn't go to the hospital). but my knee has always hurt a little since then. then, back in november, i was down in zhills, and i went up, and on a landing i must of twisted my knee a little, at the time, i didn't notice it. but when i got back to the hotel that night it really hurt, worse than what it ever had before. so, i went to the docter when i got back home (i still jumped for the rest of the week, just wraped up my knee, and slid in on my ass), but i didn't go until like end of december. but the DR. told my to stay off of it as much as possible for 2 weeks, and gave me some anti inflamitory's (sp?). and i listened, and got done with the prescription. and it's still hurting. now, he told my i didn't tear anything when he was twisting and bending my knee all around, but i'm not sure why it still hurts. and the same docter told my mom she had nothing wrong, but when she got a MRI, she had a torn miniscis (sp??) and something else. so, what do you think. should i go, or not. later

sinker 0 #4 March 11, 2003 if you had xrays and nothing is broken, get an MRI. If that comes back negative also, then you can get an arthrogram on the knee... they'll inject some contrast (dye) in the location of the knee and see if it flows into areas it shouldn't, which would let you know if you've torn something that the xray and mri can't see. I just had all of this done on my wrist. all three tests came back negative, but the sucker still hurts... so doc says take the anti-inflamatories, wrap it, blah blah blah -the artist formerly known as sinker
Rdutch 0 #5 March 11, 2003 I would definitely go. I hooked it in good Christmas Eve 99. Im amazed I didn't kill myself as well as anyone that saw it happen, but anyway after a while in the hospital, and a few surgerie's I was almost better. Anyway im in the hospital, and my doctor is talking to another doctor about me and I can hear them dicussing my case. I hear I would love to see his MRI results, His reply I didn't see a need for them. Then silence. Jump forward a year later, I have a serious limp (That is better but still noticable today) I see my doctor for the 25th time, he says all femur accident's take this long to heal. Jump again another year of not being able to run and still limping, I go see another doctor he obtain's my medical record's and says a familiar thing, "I wonder why he never had an mri done before he put hardware in your leg, didn't you have insurance"? I did it was christmas eve and he was in a hurry, then didn't want to backpedel, now I know I have a detatched MCL 2 year's later and I no longer have nsurance to pay for the repair. Dont waste time get it looked at, get it fixed and get yourself 100% again, especially with the canopy you jump. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! billvon 3,121 #6 March 11, 2003 Whenever anyone asks that I've found that "yes" is usually the right answer. The worst that can happen is that there will be nothing wrong, or the injury will be minor enough that you can disregard it.
wmw999 2,593 #7 March 11, 2003 You're young, and you only come equipped with 2 knees. You walk on them all the time, and hopefully you'll keep doing that for a long time. One of them hurts. Yup, go to the doctor. Make it a sports one, and follow his or her recommendations. The recommendations will probably include some sort of conditioning or exercise. Do them religiously. MrHixxx 0 #8 March 11, 2003 Yessir, ya go. I had my knee scoped Monday. Went in with a head full of doubts. My knee was killing me one day, then fine the next with a little soreness when bent all the way or straightened. The doc found plenty of torn tissue to remove all there revealed in glossy 2x3s. Now, for the first time in my life I am pleading for weaker drugs! The Vicadin I was on has had me heaving all day. I stepped down to Darvocet and Compazine to stop the pukes. I'm a recovering alcoholic and Cokehead (of 13 years), I have never established any competence with pill popping. I feel so inept, out of my element... You can always take the angle that you are either a tough skydiver or a smart skydiver. You were tough when you wiped out, now it is time to be smart and go see the doc...-Hixxx death,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
