BikerBabe 0 #27 March 13, 2003 Trillian is excellent, especially since I was using more than one IM client. BTW, do any of the true geeks out there know who/what "Trillian" is? (I mean, where did the name originate) Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
FallingMarc 0 #28 March 13, 2003 I never actually looked that far into it, but I vaguely assumed it had something to do with the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. M
cgross 1 #29 March 13, 2003 2 men in Queens NY were sent to jail for this scam last month. I actually almost fell for it. CALL AOL, they will never ask for your cc# on the computer.

RevJim 0 #34 March 13, 2003 I have no idea exactly how it works, but i removd all traces of aol im on this system, right down to the buried registry keys, installed Trillian, and I'm back up and running. I knew something wasn't kosher when i tried to log on to aim from my laptop, and it let me....It's your life, live it! flyingferret 0 #35 March 13, 2003 Good deal, lgad to see it worked. You could probably reinstall AIM and it would be okay. But I think you will like Trillian better. On a side note, watch for these scams guys. I dont know if that is what the Rev saw or not. But I work in IT for a living, and got an email the other day that I was 95% sure was legit. SMTP headers were right, etc, etc. But that 5% made me do an NSLOOKUP on the IP and it was a dial up account in Europe somewhere. Point is, these guys are getting pretty good. And although Ebay, AIM, etc will never ask for your CC # over a messaging client. At times you do have to enter it on the web for Ebay. So be absolutely positive you are on their domain. An email to find out never hurts.-- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
RevJim 0 #36 March 13, 2003 I uninstalled aim here, and reinstalled. Same message. I uninstalled, removed registry keys, reinstalled, same crap. Tried the laptop and it worked fine, so i removed it once again, keys and all, and installed Trillian. It's your life, live it!
