DivaSkyChick 0 #1 March 13, 2003 Anybody know where a VERY BAD PERSON (not I, really) could borrow a copy of these applications? There used to be a thing called hotline hotclient or something like that, but it seems to be gone. Any other ideas? Thanks! --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch

indyz 1 #3 March 13, 2003 I don't want to sound like the Morals Police or anything, but it's pretty ballsy to come right out and ask for help stealing like $400 worth of software.

sfc 1 #7 March 13, 2003 It is very wrong to download software without paying for it. I could never support such criminal behaviour. However, when I want to share my own personal files with the world and download shareware and other free legal stuff I find kazaa pretty cool. It is a completely legal piece of software and strongly warns you about the badness of ripping off software. http://www.kazaa.com/us/index.php There is a really good patch for kazaa which gets rid of the pop-ups and adware, you can get this from http://www.zeropaid.com/news/articles/auto/02042003b.php

lewmonst 0 #11 March 13, 2003 Hey Mandy, Kazaa is annoying, but Kazaa Lite kicks ass. The lite version does what you need from the full version, without any spyware or pop-ups or other required dowloads. I personally never download and programs from it becuase it's very risky. Anything that is a ".exe" can be anything, worst case scenario, a virus or something that destroys your hard drive... So while i will download mp3 doc or other file extensions i won't download a .exe from someone i don't know. So just be careful. i'd suggest make good friends with one of the Network Admins on here and ask for a copy of it that way. good luck. peacehttp://www.exitshot.com
DivaSkyChick 0 #12 March 13, 2003 Hey Girlie! Thanks for the info. I'll have to check into Kazaa to see if they're mac friendly. Mercy Buckets!M --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
sfc 1 #13 March 13, 2003 kazaa doesn't do MACs. try http://www.zeropaid.com/php/top_prog.php?frm_where=1&frm_where_type=mac It lists mac friendly fileshare programs.

rhino 0 #19 March 13, 2003 File sharing? EXACTLY what do you mean? You can download demo's and stay legal..
PhreeZone 20 #20 March 14, 2003 There is no such thing as "demos". The only thing that is demos is licenced demo versions that are usually altered to have either a timeout peroid or disabled features. If you think otherwise you better consult the BSA and try to explain to them that you thought you were running a "demo" copy. Software is in a few versions for licencing: Open Source (lots of methods to do this) Freeware (they give it way for free) Shareware (If you like it you should send the author some money to licence it, licencing usually gives you access to tech support) Personal Educational (Only legal if you can show a valid student ID in your name at the time of purchase) Enterprise Thats a simple breakdown. At no point does Microsoft say you can "demo" their software.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
