Guest #1 March 14, 2003 Nearly everything I've read about Iraqi refugees says they support the US position of ousting Saddam Hussein. I have no position on the politics of the possible conflict (people talk about war with Iraq as though it was already taking place or was an inevitability, but it isn't inevitable until the shooting starts, folks), but I am very interested in war in and of itself (witness my fawning over mil analyst James F. Dunnigan, often posted here). Here's yet another story from the other side."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
billvon 3,121 #2 March 14, 2003 Hmm. I've only heard one Iraqi speak recently, and she hoped that Hussein's reign could be ended without war, since many members of her family live in Baghdad. I worked with one a while back and she just hoped the whole issue could be resolved peacefully; this was before 1441 was passed. I tend to believe what I hear people say over the media, but then that restricts me to a small sample size. In the media I've heard both sides. I've seen just about unanimous condemnation of Hussein from free Iraqis, and near-unanimous support of any attempt to oust him. However, the opinions I've heard seem split 50/50 over whether they support bombing Baghdad to do it. Most of these people, of course, won't be _in_ Baghdad; the people there aren't free to give their opinions.
