wmw999 2,589 #2 March 17, 2003 And if he buckles, and we end up with Iraq disarmed and no war (and no increase in the world viewpoint of the US as bullies), then I'll be very very happy. I've said before that I really hope this is all a giant bluff. And a bluff only works if you're really willing to call (or whatever). That's GWB's strength, that people think he's willing to call. But it's hurting the US image around the world, really. If Saddam buckles, and we can manage to avoid bombing etc, then we won't necessarily be heroes, but there will be a whole lot more approval. And having friends can't hurt. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. kiltboy 0 #3 March 17, 2003 I think it's going to start in the next 24 hours. Tony Blair told the British Cabinet and lost one minister. jerry81 10 #4 March 17, 2003 Sad. Just as it was starting to look like things could be achieved by intimidation alone. In the long run, this is probably the worse option for the US.
Genie 0 #5 March 17, 2003 QuoteI think it's going to start in the next 24 hours. its close alright. and only god knows what the hell wll happen, with the UK and US going unilaterally... I was very anti the whole concept, and got into a discussion on R.S about it. One of the guys there took the time to answer the questions i posed and to show me another view point. Im now just grateful that i dont have to make that decision.. Tony Blair told the British Cabinet and lost one minister. Robin Cook resigned from the government in protestQuote About 30 of his party have claimed they would resign if this goes ahead. Blair is very isolated right now - as someone said, if blair is prepared to risk his career, popularity etc for this war then he probably has a reason.. And i agree... but dear god, look after all those who have no choice about this - including the military. And as an Irish person - wish it wasnt happening on st Patricks Day. i guess it doesnt make much difference really but it would be really hypocritical to wish Happy St Patricks day when this is whats happening..
