AggieDave 6 #1 March 18, 2003 Sorry. Just doing some research for my paper (its about the Stalinism of foriegn deplomacy with Nazi Germany). Just thought I should get that out...Damned Commies! You know, the more I learn about Soviet history, the more I realize that we didn't have too much to worry about, that the government was doomed for failure ever since Stalin ended NEP, which Lenin had started a short time before his death. And that since NEP was a form of capitalism, that their wished form of Socialism wouldn't work. Especially since they weren't truely an industrialized nation when the October Revolution happened. Only about 2 million workers out of a country with well over 100 million people. The majority (like 75%) of the population was poor peasants who scratched away a life on a rural farm... Anyways, I know return you to your scheduled post whoring and bickering about the impending war.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Have you mentioned that Germans advanced so quickly in the first period of the war following the invasion (June 22, 1941) because the Russians were in offensive positions on the boarder prepared to attack Germany? Their entire war machine was prepared for attack, from type of planes through tanks etc. Their military doctrine was geared towards atacking, not defense. That also explains why Stalin was not concerned about reports of the German invasion - he thought he would be the first one to hit. Communism was a sick system. As result of that system Russia is now the largest country in the world with vast natural resources given by the maker, yet an economy comaparable in size to that of Belgium. The majority of the population is completely demoralized and destroyed by apathy and alcohol. The civilisation gap between Russia and the West is astounding.jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui.
