2fat2fly 0 #1 March 18, 2003 I would like to be able to take CD audio or mp3 and convert to wav. I would also like to be able to edit those wav files (shorten, take just the snippets that I need). Can someone direct me to a dummy resistant utility that can do this-preferably freeware. Thanks ------I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

You can use Winamp to convert mp3s into wav (in output (i think they change the menus here and there) there's a wave writer setting, you choose that, hit play, and it saves it out to a wav) For Editing, Goldwave is a decent audio editor for simple stuff (and a whole lot of functionality i've never dug into), it's not freeware, it's nagware, but you can D/L and use it for free. For re-encoding to MP3, LAME and RazorLAME (GUI front end to LAME) are a great choice for MP3 encoding...great quality and free. Install Lame and Razorlame before EAC and EAC will find LAME and use it to automatically rip CDs and convert to MP3. Hope this helps =) PM me if you need some guidance with any of these. Landing without injury is not necessarily evidence that you didn't fuck up... it just means you got away with it this time
