Guest #1 March 18, 2003 I predict that this coming war (and it isn't here YET) will be documented by more people in more places than any war in history, but not by the liberal news outlets. Unlike PGW1, media toys that were previously available only to well-heeled news and wire services (instant transmittal of stories, photos, video) are now in the hands of individuals. Look for blogs from service personnel. These will of course be screened by the parent services, but they'll provide a much better glimpse into day-to-day operations than has been seen up until now. I predict that blogs will become pivotal, and their raw, unspun truth will outshine the big liberal media bias."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." lummy 4 #2 March 18, 2003 Blog Definition A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links Information A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person's life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, most notably Blogger at blogger.com. Thousands of people use services such as Blogger to simplify and accelerate the publishing process. Blogs are alternatively called web logs or weblogs. However, "blog" seems less likely to cause confusion, as "web log" can also mean a server's log files I had only heard the term for the first time this AM so I looked it up and then posted here in the event some one else doesn't know the meaning of Blog I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Guest #3 March 18, 2003 Thanks Lummy, I should have defined it. I fell prey to something I call "Nerd-itis" - the assumption that when I speak geek, everybody will automatically know what I'm talking about. I should also have remarked that I think blogging will become the meme that defines the war itself...if PGW1 was referred to as the "Nintendo War"..."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
