wmw999 2,593 #3 March 17, 2003 I looked at it; I just didn't respond to the post. The Israeli/Palestinian problem is at the heart of a lot of the heat in the Middle East. I was talking with a neighbor about this. She's right in that the only place the Palestinians can live is Israel. The problem is the Israelis treat them like dirt. So the Palestinians respond in kind. There have been a lot of dispossessed people through the ages. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. QuickDraw 0 #4 March 17, 2003 Quote"I've raised my children to be independent and to make their own choices, and I knew that I couldn't tell her not to go," said her mother, Cindy Corrie. "We were very proud of her," said Craig Corrie, her father. "We're very proud of her courage and what she stood for, and we're very proud of Rachel. She's 23 years old, and while that seems young to me, it's old enough for her to make up her own mind about what she wants to do. There's no holding her back." Respect. jraf 0 #6 March 17, 2003 Funny...I am just reading a historical account on the operations of SS Sondereinsatztuppen in Russia during WWII. The only difference is that they did not have buldozers and the houses were wodden. To answer any upcoming questions: yes I am comparing the IDF to the Nazi forces. The roles have reversed. It is sad, very, very sad indeed.jraf Me Jungleman! Me have large Babalui. Muff #3275
wmw999 2,593 #7 March 17, 2003 The country was "declared" by the UN. Sucks to be a Palestinian. It was formed (IN PART) as a response to the Holocaust. Sucks to be a European Jew. The bulldozer continued moving forward, covering Corrie with dirt and then crushing her. It was not clear whether the bulldozer operator could hear protesters' yells over the sound of the machine. __________________________________________ Is not Israel a UN settled peace aggrement from WWII? Up here in Oregon a logging protester fell out of a tree from about 200 feet killing him. Protesting is dangerous work. Don't run out of altitude and experience at the same time... Different topic, but do you realize Saddam Hussein would have nuclear weapons right now if the Israelis hadn't destroyed his french/italian made nuclear power plant (which was supposedly built so the 2nd most oil rich country in the world could research alternative energy sources) in 1981 using american provided planes? The power plant was built by france and italy in exchange for oil, by the way, and they knew it could produce the plutonium needed for about one nuclear weapon per year. I'm not worried about this war becoming WW3. If Iraq had finished their nuclear plant, I'd be really worried. Thank goodness the US supplied them with F-16s. falxori 0 #14 March 18, 2003 i may be walking into fire here, but... first of all, i am very sorry because of this incident. and believe it or not, i'm very sorry when innocent palestinians get hurt, and they do, both physically and mentally. most houses demolished are either houses of terrorist who have killed dozens of israelis, or houses used as shelters for snipers. no one demolishes a house just because we feel like it. there is no excuse for this tragic accident but if you chose to sit in front of a huge and loud machine like that you have to consider the outcome. and to all of you who jump into comparing one conflict with another, i really suggest you learn the fact and background before you compare anyone to the Nazis. if you are interested in hearing and learning i'd be more than happy to give you some facts. if you decide that the IDF is like the SS just because something looked similar, you are either stupid or ignorant. yes, this is a tough conflict, tougher than most because we are talking about the same (small ) piece of land with two very different cultures. and to those who said "the only place palestiniams can live is in israel" . you are wrong. the only place Palestinians can live is in Palestine which will exist next to israel. not "instead of", "next to" O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." Dave That plant would have produced 7kg of bomb-grade Plutonium per year. The Israelis acted unilaterally, but it's a good thing for everyone that they did.
