happythoughts 0 #1 March 19, 2003 I've been watching those ads... you buy pot, he buys is from Columbia, they buy a car bomb... The logic is that when you buy pot, you support terrorism. That is what I thought at first. Maybe the message is... if you buy foreign pot, you support terrorism. Therefore, to fight terrorism, buy American pot. Or, to get out of the criminal element altogether, clean out your garage and grow some good hydroponic stuff. Whaddaya say? The govt wants us to grow out own pot. Join the fight against terrorism today.

PhillyKev 0 #3 March 19, 2003 That's what I think every time I see those commercials. Hmmm, what would be more effective at reducing the flow of money to criminal drug lords. A) Stamp out all drug use. Shouldn't be a problem, let's start a war on drugs, we should be able to take care of it in no time. B) Decriminalize it so that the money goes to farmers, stock holders, and government coffers. Geez, that's crazy, I must be high.

Actually, if pot was legal, there wouldn't be that much money going to farmers. The price is artificially high because it is illegal. If tobacco was illegal, a pack of cigs would probably be $100. Likewise, the price of pot would drop. However, the govt is worried about the amount of money that Americans spend on pot. They estimate that Americans spend $1 billion annually on pot. Of course if it was legal, the price would drop and that problem would be solved. QuoteThe White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP)** conducted a study to determine how much money is spent on illegal drugs that otherwise would support legitimate spending or savings by the user in the overall economy. ONDCP found that, between 1988 and 1995, Americans spent ... $7 billion on marijuana... Clicky source

Once upon a time, farmers were required by the government to allocate 10% of their farmland to grow hemp.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
