An effort to put a puppet government that will cowtow to US demands in place. Saudi Arabia is where the money trail for OBL leads ... it's a fu@ckin madman gone power crazy. What a giant load of crap. Fortunately, most Americans are behind this noble effort. Latest job approval ratings are 63% and RISING. The "get out of dodge" speech 48 hours ago got 77% approval. Abandoning diplomacy and turning loose the world's most powerful military force on an impoverished country of 23 million where more than 1/2 the population relys on foreign aid for food, where children don't have clean water to drink, where health care is poor at best ... this is what you call this "noble"? And I would suggest the high ratings you have for your leadership are because the information you receive is VERY controlled.

Iflyme 0 #34 March 20, 2003 QuoteOne more time for the folks in the nose-bleed seats: The UN is not a governing body. One of the reasons the UN was created is to prevent scenarios like this from ever happening.
billvon 3,078 #35 March 20, 2003 >The UN is not a governing body. So Iraq had no obligation to obey UN 1441? Then what's all that talk about inspections failing and whatnot? I think we're treating the UN somewhat schizophrenically. Iraq must obey the UN, since they represent the will of the world. We don't have to, since they're not a governing body. We should choose one or the other.

flyingferret 0 #38 March 20, 2003 The UN is a cooperative based on compliance. That is totally different than a governeing body. Furthermore, the is a difference between acting without approval and acting directly against a UN resolution. Come on Bill, I know your logic works better than that...doesn't? The information you get is no different. Now think about why this country is in the state it's in... Saddam funnells all resources to his military, especially the Republican Guard. They have food, water, medical care. All the "oil for food" resources go toward that. Bear in mind, that the US is now unified behind the mission, even if some disagree. I've not seen anyone sling BS at our troops and even the political slinging in Washington DC has settled and rallied behind our President.
