AggieDave 6 #2 March 21, 2003 So they should be on station in about 15 hours, right? <----trying to remember flight times.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
rhino 0 #3 March 21, 2003 They took off from Europe... That would put them in theatre on hold...

diverdriver 7 #5 March 21, 2003 QuoteShit is about to hit the fan... I think it absolutely irresponsible that the press is announcing this. They should not be broadcasting ANY troop movements. I thought it was bad enough saying the first divisions were across the boarder.
SkySlut 0 #6 March 21, 2003 Not only did they make mention of the moves, but you could watch them live over videophone from the roof of a Hummer with the 7th Cavalry. I watched them roll past native goat hearders through the desert. You could also see them all get out of their tanks and stretch their legs, grab a bite to eat and then roll on. Fascinating TV. Didnt want to miss a single bit of it. It was on CNN for atleast a couple of hours. Then I fell asleep.

I thought it was bad enough saying the first divisions were across the boarder. I guess that is our handicap in this evolution. Of course I remember watching an F-18 doing an after-burner take-off during Desert Storm and had the newscaster say he was coming in for a landing with his "thruster boosters" on. If the Iraqi's are smart, they will take everything with a grain of sand (nice tie-in, huh?) and assume all hell is getting ready to rain down on them. They'll probably be just as accurate.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
kiltboy 0 #9 March 21, 2003 Don't know about that argument. If the command and control has gone tits and scared Iraqi switches on TV then sees what's coming at him, wouldn't it add to the pressure for them to chuck in the towel or realise that the writing is on the wall and switch sides? VectorBoy 0 #10 March 21, 2003 You are right on Kiltboy, it would be better than leaflets and it is free. G
kiltboy 0 #11 March 21, 2003 If you consider as well that the demo would be much more effective than reading the leaflet. David

Guest #15 March 21, 2003 QuoteMay god forgive us, and may our troops come home safely. And let's hope most Iraqi civilians survive our attacks. There are going to be civilian deaths. It's unavoidable. However, that won't make those who've lost their loved ones to our action feel any better. What might help is when they know that those SAME RELATIVES won't be rounded up and shot by Saddam's secret police anymore. Most of the Iraqi expats I've heard from /read about are cheering us on."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

indyz 1 #20 March 21, 2003 QuoteI think it absolutely irresponsible that the press is announcing this. They should not be broadcasting ANY troop movements. I thought it was bad enough saying the first divisions were across the boarder. Why? It is being reported by "embedded press" units, who are allowed to broadcast at the discretion of the unit that they are embedded in, with specific rules about what they are allowed to mention.
