wmw999 2,589 #1 March 22, 2003 This is a thread to post funny movies and give recommendations. I watched a couple of videos Thursday night with my son. My requirements were that they be funny, and reasonably close to brainlessly witty. I highly recommend Super Troopers. He told me it was one step up from "Dumb and Dumber" (thank goodness). But it's good and funny, and good and stupid, without pandering. If you're a police officer without a sense of humor, this is probably not a good movie. And if you're someone with a chip on their shoulder about the police, this is probably not a good movie. Need more suggestions Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. DYEVOUT 0 #2 March 22, 2003 Depending on your sense of humor, I'd recommend anything Monty Python has ever done, or anything produced by the Zucker Brothers. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
lawrocket 3 #3 March 22, 2003 Anything by the Zucker Brothers (Airplane!, Kentucky Fried Movie) and early Mel Brooks (Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, History of the World, Part I). But one of the funniest movies I ever saw was "Showgirls." I thought it was supposed to be a drama... My wife is hotter than your wife.
jessd 0 #4 March 22, 2003 I like the stupid comedies like Dumb and Dumber and American Pie. There is a really funny movie in the theater right now called Old School. I have gone to see it twice - which I never usually go to the movies anyway. I couldn't stop laughing. Magistr8 0 #8 March 22, 2003 No one here has mentioned UHF. It's got Wierd Al Yankovic and Micheal Richards. It has a very immature type of humor but there is nothing quite like it around. kingbunky 3 #13 March 23, 2003 depending on the age of your son, any of the jersey trilogy, with the exception of chasing amy, that, while it was a very good movie, wasn't as funny as the other four (how many commas can one put in a sentence?) i'm with the others on the zucker movies. you might also consider coen brothers movies (raising arizona or brother where art thou) if he has/enjoys a drier sense of humour. edited because beer inhibits spelling abilities. edited again because i still can't spell."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." Lolie 0 #14 March 23, 2003 Well, since we've sufficiently hijacked the "Anybody know this guy?" thread with it, I might as well put it in the thread where it belongs... if you haven't seen the movie "Office Space," you NEED to make it the next movie you rent. It's HILARIOUS. -Miranda you shall above all things be glad and young / For if you're young, whatever life you wear it will become you;and if you are glad / whatever's living will yourself become. SpeedRacer 1 #21 March 23, 2003 Quote David St. Hubbins: I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem *may* have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being *crushed* by a *dwarf*. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object. Ian Faith: I really think you're just making much too big a thing out of it. David St. Hubbins: Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------
