BoobieCootie 0 #1 March 25, 2003 According to this interesting read and as quoted: QuoteAfter months of monitoring sales to Iraq, the United States received information in the past 48 hours about ``the kind of equipment that will put our men and women in harm's way,'' Secretary of State Colin Powell said Monday on Fox News Channel. Well I ain't no military top brass and I ain't got much edjumacation, but I'd find out what them enimies gotz befo I'ze go and pick a fight wit anybody And considering that we've worked so hard to end to the cold war, if there's no truth in this accusation, me thinks this will put more strain in what I call a tensed situation. Now if it was true on the other hand, me thinks we'ze be on the way to WW3 This is not looking good
SpeedRacer 1 #2 March 25, 2003 OH c'mon BC, this has already been discussed. it's not the Russian GOVERNMENT that's selling this stuff to the Iraqis, it is a couple of private companies within Russia. Still not a good thing that Russia isn't doing a good job controlling exports, but u don't have to make it sound like it's WWIII. billvon 3,120 #4 March 25, 2003 >Now if it was true on the other hand, me thinks we'ze be on the way to WW3 . . . . I don't think it's that big a deal. The US sold stripped down military choppers to Iraq, and US companies sold anthrax cultures, chemical weapons precursors, and nuclear weapon triggers to Iraq. Doesn't mean we're evil, either. BoobieCootie 0 #5 March 25, 2003 I think the anthrax cultures were only good for making lousy beer, and those triggers were likely to jam anyway. No we're not evil. We just ripped them Iraqis off. At least I hopeBut still, the Russian govt kept a blind eye on the export of weapons. And that's something we were worried about at the end of the cold war. Lot's of these over-qualified and underpaid scientists and engineers could be bought for the price of a BMW. Well, some of them showed up in a bad neighborhood. ralu 0 #6 March 25, 2003 Do you think that the russians have any interest to stop the weapons export? Do you think they are the only ones? France, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, US, etc. are all selling weapons. And not always to the good guys. Because it's easy to full them about the buyer, and sometimes they don't want to search deeper. ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....
