Music for the times (whatcha listen'n to)

Recommended Posts

Right now, music for the mood and environment (war) in my playlist include a few things, BUT it is centered around a single piece (well, a movement of a piece).

"Mars" (from The Planets) by Holst.

What's in your playlist (name a single song that represents you at this point, that you've been listening to).

For The Rolling Stones
I Don't Feel Like Rocking
Since My Babies Gone
So Don't Rock The Jukebox
Play Me A Country Song!
Before You Drop That Quarter
Keep One Thing In Mind
You've Got A Heartbroke Hillbilly
Standing Here In Line

Right this minute the song that's stuck in my head is "Maria" by Blondie.

Quote

She moves like she don't care
Smooth as silk
Cool as air
Oooh it makes you wanna' cry

She doesn't know your name and your heart beats like a subway train
Oooh it makes you wanna' die
Oooh don't you wanna' take her?
Wanna' make her all your own?

Maria
You've gotta see her
Go insane and out of your mind
Latina
Ave Maria
A million and one candlelight's

I've seen this thing before
In my best friends and the boy next door
Fool for love and full of fire
Won't come in from the rain
She's oceans running down the drain
Blue as ice and desire
Don't you wanna' make her?
Oooh don't you wanna' take her home?

Been listening to a lot of System of a Down lately. Diverdriver's selection is nice, I might pop some Ministry in for the first time in years...

Listening to dreary-plain-jane-adult-contemporary-muzzak while on hold with SBC... :(:S[:/]>:(B|

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

My winamp randomizer has gone mad!

I've been back home for about an hour and I've heard :

Devo - we like explosions
Duke Ellington - Diminuendo & Crescendo from the Newport Jazz festival '58
Billy Idol - White wedding
Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incence & Peppermints
Dead Milkmen - gonna beat my wife
Sinatra - I've Got you Under my Skin
Bela Bartok: Old Hungarian dances

It just kicked on Ornette Coleman's Free Jazz

This has got to be the most incoherent set it's played for me in a very long time.

PS: aggiedave what else is in your playlist? I LOVE that Holst suite (played it at University Wind Ensemble)

Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)

Right now I've got some of the following:

Carl Orff --Carmina Burana (a section of some of my favorite movements)

Bach --A handful of his stuff, about 8 different pieces, so I'm not going to list them all

Bernstein -- Overture to Candid, Slava

Dvorak -- Carnival Overture

Saint Saens --Danse Macabre

Granger -- Irish Tune from County Derry and Lincolnshire Posy

All in all, a nice playlist. B|
