Guest #1 March 25, 2003 My prediction came true, but from an unexpected source: An Iraqi blogger is telling the world what's going on inside Baghdad. Betcha Saddam's SS are looking for this guy."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."

Guest #3 March 25, 2003 Quote Good call and great article. I hope this fella makes it through. His account when it's over will be saught after I bet. Thanks! There has been some suspicion, as posted on bbc.co.uk, that he might be a phony, but reverse Ip lookups show it's coming from Iraq via Lebanon. Smart guy is covering his tracks. Also, the US is sending emails to Iraq as part of PsyOps. He's replying, telling them to knock it off. Let's hope Saddam's Fedayeen are clueless as to his whereabouts. I can see a book deal for him too."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
PhillyKev 0 #4 March 25, 2003 Seems pretty realistic. Written by someone who's not a fan of Saddam, but isn't real happy about bombs dropping all around him. Here's the link.
QuickDraw 0 #5 March 25, 2003 Great link Mark, I think it is a breath of fresh air, in what is a depressing situation, to read about someone who is not that different from someone in the west, and the situation he is in makes the thought of war "that" much more acceptable. Don't get me wrong...I was/am still in the opinion that going through the UN was/should have been the answer, but alas, all the foot-dragging, and red tape are not helping Iraqi's like "Salam" and his family. Ok.... it "could" be propaganda and a very elaborate plan to soften up my infidel conscience, (like it needs it, I hear you say). Maybe its because he sounds like a westerner, and is not shoving his religious beliefs down my throat, but something, has changed after reading his daily accounts, he takes pride in his city & country, he is aware of his surroundings and of the world and what's going on in it, and lets not forget.... This guy would be executed if he was caught. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
Guest #6 March 25, 2003 Thanks for your remarks. I think the blogger is for real, because the details seem too forthright and accurate to have come from anybody who wasn't there. It could be phony, but he's been blogging for six months now, so I don't think he's an opportunist. Also, his criticism of the regime is offset by his jabs at the US. If it was a fraud, I really think his blogs would be more biased to one side or the other. I wouldn't want to be under US air power either. As for disagreeing - One of the tenets of my company's culture is "Criticize ideas, not people." If you pull up some of my pre-war posts, you will see that I had misgivings and dire predictions about the war, but I don't recall at any time making a personal attack or insulting someone for their point of view. Rather, I have tried to refute their arguments. However, I made an exception: When the KIRO-TV hatchet-job on Kapowsin broke, I called that "reporter" (notice the quotes) all sorts of things when posting on the thread, but when I emailed him directly, I refuted his arguments, did not use insults (much as I wanted to), and requested that others who sent him messages do the same. Every fatality in war is a tragedy, because it means someone's loved one is lost. However, the brutality in Iraq MUST end, I think every free person in the world would surely agree. We only disagree on the timing."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
