Gawain 0 #1 March 25, 2003 As usual, there's a nice little gem within BBCi about post-Iraq-conflict politics and what the landscape needs to look like when it's all done. The article (clicky) summarizes that while it may not be personal, Blair believes that not addressing the rift between the main players in the EU and the US lays a foundation for a far more dangerous world. Blair has shown great resilience within his political environment and regardless of view, he's held up well in the face of adversity (despite the lumps). What I think is interesting is that Blair may want to be a bridge, but I wonder if the US or France would be willing to cross it. Henry Kissinger said himself that the US must reassess its relationships with the key players in NATO and the EU. Things that make you go hmmm... Muenkel 0 #2 March 25, 2003 I watched some of Blair's press conference this morning. I was very impressed with the way he handled himself and answered all the questions with logic. He also demonstrates a true confidence in what he believes. As for him building a bridge between the U.S. and France, I do see that as being possible. I don't think it is in either country's best interest to have strained relations. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
SpeedRacer 1 #3 March 25, 2003 I protested this war, but I gotta say, Blair's got balls. He's up against a lot of shit politically, & you gotta give him credit for standing firm, even if you don't agree with what he says. He has great talent and I am very glad he's aligned UK policy with us.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
