Oy vey, I am from Douglas Street in the heart of the very ethnic Squirrel Hill. As a propper Jewish neighbourhood aside from all our temples (4 within one from of my parents house) we have the best pizza places in town. Douglas St. end in Moneo's pizza, right aroud the corner there is Aiello's (my favorite)

Of course magic coffee shops (I always eat breakfast at 61C) book stores. You name it you got it.

As any propper Jewish boy I got both my degrees at our ultracatholic Duquesne University.

As any propper Pittsburgher, I drink beer at Brewski's on the corner of 8th and Carson. Well I drink beer everywhere as a matter of fact.

(Hey Kristen now that you know so much about me, will you marry me?)B|

OH and we can not talk about "The Burgh" with out a honorable mention of "Pramanti's on the Strip" (Sp?) Where you go after the Bars close and eat sandwitches with the fries and cole-slaw right on the sandmich.. "Meet Yenz at Pramanti's for a cheese steak an Iron then will go down town to the Point an'Nat?" (Burgh accent enhanced)...:D:D:D;)

Jevver go ta Huntz's Tavern in Etna for some turtle soup? How about Bobby Rubino's over Station Square for some ribs?

Heheheh, nope... I actually miss the snow (we don't see much of it in Houston) and particularly the skiing (I used to teach ski school down at 7-Springs B|).

LMAO.. Been to all the above, Grew up right over the hill from Etna in Millvale, Babcock Blvd. Grant bar has better turtle soup but only serve it on friday lunch special.

I also heard about Primanti's expanding outta state, They now have stores all over the burgh including in both new stadiums. Just not the same sandmich as one you get down the strip at 3 in the morning with a buz yelling your order over the heads of people waiting for their grub. One of the first bars I ever drank at, I was not even old enough to legally drive a car there but I could order and get a beer, That bar will always hold a place near my heart..:D:D:D.

Are you from that area??

OK, since you are such a nice fine lady, and since you have the ethnic signature I hereby make you honorary Pittsburgher, as well as resident of Squirrel Hill - Shalom.

That is of course for the time till I marry you:)

Never order anything larger than medium fries at the O unless there is more than 5 of you. Geez their servings are massive.

I am absolutely devastated that they shut down Zelda's. I remember Thursday nights were Quarter Draft nights. We used to order 100 beer at a time. Then it would be "Osssifer, I got no money and I cccccanth thrive anymore, will you thhhhake me home?" - the cops always gave me a ride.

I was born and raised in Allegheny County (Natrona Heights). Went to Triangle Tech on the North Side with some guys from Millvale. Worked at Comstock Engineering, on Fort Duquesne Blvd. from '86 to '92.

Used to go up to Primanti's after concerts and such. I really miss Wholley's seafood market in the strip - fresh seafood, CHEAP! Used to like to "drink a yard" at Mario's and Blue Lou's in Southside too.

P.S.
Worked my way thru technical school pumpin' gas, and working at Eat 'n Park in Natrona Hgts. I miss Eat 'n Park, too. Closest one out here is in Carlisle.
