Warning..I'm about to Vent.

So there I was..... At the Circle K getting me some coffee and then this guy comes in and starts bitching to the clerk about the price of gas. The clerk is polite and states that the prices are set by the corporate office. The guy then goes off and is screaming about how we don't import oil from Iraq and the prices should be that high. He starts going off on the political rant and the clerk is standing there just being patient and gives the corporate response again. The guy is getting more agitated and I had to tell the guy that he needs to be a gentleman and behave himself. Of course he gives me a big Fuck you and leaves.>:( The clerk gave me my coffee for free and thanked me:). Ok done venting. Now go out there and spread joy.:)

I just use this rule of thumb:

About 2 out of every 5 people I may encounter will be an a*shole. If the number is less than that, I'm having a good day, or I'm lucky. If the number is more than that, there's probably something wrong with me (hey, it could happen!) ;)

Anyway, the guy from CircleK was wrong, some of the oil we use does come from Iraq. That's not the reason for high prices though. It's because of the mandate to change the reformulation from MTBE to Ethynol or some other oxygenation agent. They never write the laws allowing easier transition, instead they force a 100% clean out of the distribution system. Supply becomes tight, prices go up. Amplify that with oil at $30+ per barrel et voila... :P

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

I feel sorry for those people, the assholes, for they seem incapable of finding happiness with whatever they do or whereever they go. As you did, I often take the opportunity to be extra nice to whomever they are assholes to and remind them that not everyone in the world is that way.

It was good of you to back the clerk. I'm sure she appreciates it. Everyone needs to step back and put themselves in others shoes sometimes to realize that lots of things in life we have no control over, but out attitude toward those things we can control. I can be a bitch at times, we all can, but I try to apoligize when I realize it.

Smile are free. Take one and pass it on.

It's easy to say "There's no excuse for this kind of behavior" but there very well might be an excuse. When you tell the story, I'm wondering, "What is the other guy's side of the story?" In fact, that's usually the first thing that goes through my head when anybody tells a story about any event. "How did this look to the other guy?"

In the end, you might decide the other guy is wrong, but I don't believe you can conclude that until you figure out what the other guy is wrong about.

As my mother once told me, "You can never tell who's waiting for the results of a blood test."

I don't agree. Personally, the way I view things is that no matter what is going on in your life, that doesn't give you the right to be an asshole to someone else in an unrelated situation. It is unfortunate a lot of people do this, hell I've done it (but try very hard not to).

On a funnier side, try telling this to someone who becomes a raging bitch once a month...

(think about, you'll get it).

Much better to vent to a group of (virtual) friends than to take it out on some poor bystander, or worse, your kid. Morally, I believe that, no matter how bad your day is, it doesn't give you the right to take it out on other people. Of course, sometimes, it's very difficult to follow, and in some circumstances it can even be excused. But those circumstances are few and far between...

Anyway, you're cool for standing up for the clerk. Props.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

I like to be as nice and calm and speak in a quiet voice as possible to people ranting like lunatics, or just anyone that’s really angry..(worked GREAT on Drill Sgts.;)) the condescending mock sympathy tone tends to make their blood boil..sometimes you can even watch their veins swell when they dont get the reaction they (subconsciously) desire

its great fun! And an entertaining way to deal with A-holes in general..and of course if they get mad enough to swing (hopefully in front of witnesses) then they give me all the inertia I need to introduce them to less exciteable objects like walls and floors :)
