Michele 1 #1 March 28, 2003 Well, as I was typing this note, I discovered it wasn't a truck outside but a wee bitty quakie...2.8, barely noticable...except it wasn't too far away (maybe 12 miles?). So the cats looked around, I looked around, and then went ahead and started checking... I actually think that's the first time I've ever felt something less than a 3.5...I thought it was a bit larger than that...at least, that I recall... http://www.scecdc.scec.org/recenteqs/ http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/review_eventfiles/13950580.html (waveforms for those interested) Fun! Rumble-rumble-bounce-rumble ~~ hey cat, where are you going? Just thought I'd mention it... airtwardo 7 #2 March 28, 2003 I miss California!!! moved from sandyeggo to Texas a while back....gave up the beach for bugs...quakes for tornados... I was in Glendale for the bad on in '70... Michele 1 #3 March 28, 2003 Yeah, '71 was a bad one. Took down freeways, took out buildings. I was 5 years old, in Burbank.... 94 was worse, imho, though. I do believe I'd rather have eq's than tornados. Less frequent, less destructive (in an area known for eq's [building codes, etc.], at least), and less scary overall. Michele 1 #5 March 28, 2003 I'm surprised *I* felt anything. A 2.8 is dinky, wee-tiny-small, and it was at least 12 miles away. You wouldn't have felt it in Barstow - that's what, like 90 - 100 miles north of me? But yes, Barstow is, uh, rather "quiet"... Michele 1 #8 March 28, 2003 QuoteLookie what happened to my house last week...and it was 'only' high winds! Yeowwwchh! Everything was o.k.? Reminds me of a few months ago when my mother's tenants called me at 5 -something-am screaming that the gardeners had come in the night and cut down the eucalyptus trees out front.....which made no sense at all until I realized we had serious winds that evening...something on the order of 60-70 mph gusts...took that tree right on down... LOL...yeah, eq's aren't nearly as bad... Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

Quotelooking like 30-35,000 in damages [Frown] Dayum.....my mom's house didn't suffer any real damages...just a set of malibu lights lining the walkway got roughed up. Nothing a quick run to Home Depot didn't fix... QuoteHey aren't you in real estate??? WE WANNA MOVE BACK!!!!! [Cool] [Cool] [Cool] Come on home! And let me know when you do, and I will help find you a home...or at least put you with a good realtor for the neighborhood of your choice...
