Either a truck just crashed...

Recommended Posts

Well, as I was typing this note, I discovered it wasn't a truck outside but a wee bitty quakie...2.8, barely noticable...except it wasn't too far away (maybe 12 miles?). So the cats looked around, I looked around, and then went ahead and started checking...

I actually think that's the first time I've ever felt something less than a 3.5...I thought it was a bit larger than that...at least, that I recall...

Fun!

Rumble-rumble-bounce-rumble ~~ hey cat, where are you going?

Just thought I'd mention it...B|

Yeah, '71 was a bad one. Took down freeways, took out buildings. I was 5 years old, in Burbank....

94 was worse, imho, though. I do believe I'd rather have eq's than tornados. Less frequent, less destructive (in an area known for eq's [building codes, etc.], at least), and less scary overall.

I'm surprised *I* felt anything. A 2.8 is dinky, wee-tiny-small, and it was at least 12 miles away. You wouldn't have felt it in Barstow - that's what, like 90 - 100 miles north of me?

But yes, Barstow is, uh, rather "quiet"...

Yeowwwchh! Everything was o.k.?

Reminds me of a few months ago when my mother's tenants called me at 5 -something-am screaming that the gardeners had come in the night and cut down the eucalyptus trees out front.....which made no sense at all until I realized we had serious winds that evening...something on the order of 60-70 mph gusts...took that tree right on down...

LOL...yeah, eq's aren't nearly as bad...

Hi, Mark

what time was the quakie?

The wee lil wannabe quakie was at 9:44 pm, I think. Click the top link (USGS) and then click the blue box at Northridge...that will give you all the details.

Dayum.....my mom's house didn't suffer any real damages...just a set of malibu lights lining the walkway got roughed up. Nothing a quick run to Home Depot didn't fix...

Come on home! And let me know when you do, and I will help find you a home...or at least put you with a good realtor for the neighborhood of your choice...

Besides, if you move home, you can jump with me at Elsinore and Perris, and laugh really hard at me in the sky...I flail very competently!

We're really hoping to...
been lookin' up the road a bit, 1000 oaks...santa paula...oxnard...
My better 1/2 is a pilot for a major, based here in Houston...She says she'd rather commute than live here much longer!
Hey next time you run into old D-22 at Elsinore (or Perris) tell him 'Twardo' sends his best...and I've got a slot for him at the EAA OshKosh Air Show this year if he wants to come.
