Ahhh, just got back from the Range.

Recommended Posts

That felt sooo good. I only shot 200 rds, but it felt good to get some time in on the range. It took 100 rds to get back to a level that I'm happy with (I hadn't shot in a month and was very rusty), but all in all I had fun.

I even rented a H&K USP 45 Compact and put 50rds through it. Hadn't shot one in about a year, very nice weapon. Although the 150rds I put through my Glock was nice. B|

Just thought I would share, before I left to go to the DZ.

You sir have obviously been deluded! The whole throw-away weapon industry has fouled the minds of potential Marine Corps officers such as yourself, and induced the lot of you to purchase such perversions of the hand gun industry as Jenson, Glock, and Baretta. Awaken from this CLP-induced haze, young man, and find the one true path to superior weaponry!

The mag or the nail?

The mag .. i got the nail in and noticed just the other day the gun didn't have a mag in it.. then I realized I never put it back.. now I can't find it.. it has to be in the apartment somewhere but i've looked all over.. so i'm kinda at a loss as to where it could have disappeared to.

Ahhh, you must be referring to Kimber...I do believe that a Kimber Ultra TenII will be my next weapon.B|

Ahhh...(shyly) what's a Kimber?
I'm guessing is a 1911 clone of some type...
Been working on this Guldam wrecked house all day and I'm toooo tired to google!
...and I agree w/ you Dave, I have Glocks & USP's in both 40 & 45...The USP looks cool and shoots well, but I just hit better w/ a Glock.
Just for the hell of it a few years back I put 4500 rounds through a Glock .9mm (over a period of time) without ever cleaning or oiling it....NEVER misfired once! Good enough for MEEEEEE!;)

Hmmm, I wonder if God meant me to be a Texan instead of an northeastern Yankee.

I grew up among northeastern Lefty intellectuals. But I never felt completely comfortable around them, they were so zealous with their PC morals, that I almost began to feel a bit revolted around them. These people would assume anyone who owns a gun MUST be a member of some crazed, racist, right-wing militia living on a compound out in the boonies.

Before you get the wrong id, let me just re-assure you that I don't think like that.

The fact is, I've never fired a gun (except once, a bb gun), although there are a few ranges nearby (I've moved a little farther South, to maryland near DC). I was hoping that some of you could tell me how a newbie could start in on this, without buying a gun or getting special permits.

For some reason, with both video games involving a hand-held firearm (I mean a loose one, with a cord, not one rooted to the machine), and the bb-gun, I was remarkably accurate for a first-timer. And my Dad was in the USMC and kept hitting the bullseye, so maybe it runs in the family.

So I guess my question is, how do you learn & initially practice this without having to buy your own gun & get a permit, etc. I mean, can you get started like skydiving, with just rented equipment?

Call around to all the major gun ranges and talk to them. More then likely they have rental weapons. Also, if you tell them that you've never shot and you want to learn they either can a) teach you or b) tell you where to go in your area. Eitherway, I bet you'll have a hell of a time and never look back! :PB|
