A Kimber? I don't know...what is a Sabre canopy?:P

(I'm assuming you're joking, if you're not, let me know, they make one of the best 1911 type 45s you can buy).

No! I didn't know...I've been outta the game for a bit...'Mom' doesn't want gun mags around...till the kids are better adjusted. NRA life member and the mags go to my folks house in Ill. AHHHH!
I do hit an indoor range up here in Kingwood at least once a month...when the little monsters are at school...
I'll have to check around and see if I can try one...
(Kimber, not kids)
Thanks
...By the way,
Whats a Sabre???;);););)

Kimber is basically the top of the line 1911 you can buy without having someone bench make one for you. Even then, the slide and rails are at a much higher tolerance. Accurate and reliable. They'll run you from about $800-1500.

Hmmm, I wonder if God meant me to be a Texan instead of an northeastern Yankee.
hoping that some of you could tell me how a newbie could start in on this, without buying a gun or getting special permits.

I'm sure many ranges would let you rent a gun to shoot, as Dave mentioned. I'd bet you'd end up buying one though. It's kind of like renting skydiving gear. Once you try it you'll like it, and want your own stuff. It might also be good to have someone teach you safety basics (if possible). Firearms, can be pretty lethal. My brother had no interest in guns at all growing up. He lived in L.A. during the riots and found out there was noone to call, if you needed help. So I took him out pistol shooting. From that moment on, he was hooked. He now has two pistols. Even if you have no interest in home defense, they are fun to shoot.....Steve1

>>The H&K is a nice weapon, but by no means would I consider it a "trade up." Just because it costs more, doesn't mean its a better weapon. <<

I agree. The boreline is too high above your hands, making it difficult to get fast hits. Also has a trigger that is even funkier than a Glock.

Or if you REALLY wanna fight it, go get an Infinity (www.sviguns.com). Theyre a maker of high end custom 45's and 9's. Some border on "space gun" looking but theyre nice!

Theyre in the 2 and 3+ thou range. I think mine sells for $2500, which I would NEVER (never say never...) spend on a handgun. Fortunately I won mine at a sniper match....heeee!!
