Blinkers or not Blinkers?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I'm tired to see people in their car turning and changing lanes without using their blinkers. I nearly get hit again by some guys who didn't use his blinkers and didn't even check if their was space to change lane. B|

If you don't use your blinkers please think about it. It could save a lot of accidents and make the road safer... It's as easy as waving at pull time! :P
Thanks for listening! :)

I think that in Houston, blinkers are used to indicate that you're actually in the process of turning.

Yeah, and I see a lot of folks that think the blinker gives them right of way or creates a force-field as the zig-zag...

I use my turn signals when I'm actually turning...lane changes don't always call for that... B|

So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

You are right I should have add this choice... there is no point using your blinkers while you are turning it's already too late... [:/]

Blinkers are used to indicate that you are going to turn.... Thanks for reminding this Wendy! :)

Mr. "Driving Instructor" says...:

1.Extend index and middle finger of left hand so they hold your turn signal stalk as if it was a cigarette

2. Turn with left palm still on the wheel so that turn indicator actually operates.

3. Prepare for incoming gunfire from people like me who you just cut off (aggiedave can I borrow a sidearm, please?)

SOME FUCKING ASSHOLE DIDNT' USE HIS BLINKER WHEN CHANGING LANES IN STOPPED, BACKED UP TRAFFIC AND FORCED HIM SELF INTO THE RIGHT LANE, CAUSING ME TO SWERVE MY BIKE AND LOCK THE FRONT BRAKE, FLIP THE BIKE AND SLIDE IT UP UNDER A CAR, DOING 12,000 BUCKS OF DAMAGE TO A 7,500 DOLLAR BIKE. I was o.k. BUT MY BIKE IS TOTALED BECAUSE OF THAT FUCKING ASSHOLE!!!
USE YOUR FUCKING BLINKERS PEOPLE.
w/o my helmet, i don't even want to fucking think about that... full face/full time

Accelerate hard to get them looking, then slam on the fronts and rollright beside the car, hanging the back wheel at eye level for a few seconds. Guaranteed reaction- Dave Sonsky

blinkers? oh, you mean turn signals.... or indicators...;) yeah, i know what those are for... they are for letting the other guy know to quick close the gap you are going to merge into so he can "win" when you are driving a nice car and won't dare rub fenders... :( Now, when you are driving a large truck, they are for letting people know to make room because you are coming over whether they would like you to or not... That is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves!!! The guy who invented the blinker was put on this Earth for THAT reason... to invent the DAMN BLINKER!! I HATE it when people don't use them! I use them everytime I intend to move my vehicle. Why do some people think it's ok to turn all of a sudden with no warning or to just slip over in my lane whenever the feel like it. UGH!!!! :S

When driving in NYC, you cannot use them before you begin to change lanes; the blinker indicates the other car still has a chance to move up and prevent you from getting in front of him. You start to change lanes, then once his forward path is cut off you turn on the directional (to make it 'legal.') In LA same thing, but in San Diego you can often use a blinker a few seconds before changing lanes; people here seem less intent on making sure you stay away from their lane.

My favorite saying about blinkers (and seatbelts, and brakes...)...

"If it wasn't an option when you bought the car, it is NOT an option to use it..."

My second favorite is "the pedal allllllll the way to the right is the go juice....please go..."

MEGA sigh.. Another person who just doesn't get it. Maybe it's just a problem in your part of the world. In Melbourne, Oz. we've been dealing with telepathic indicators for years. It's easy to spot cars with telepathic indicators - they turn in all sorts of crazy directions with no visible warning.
Get with the programme and get yourself up to date.

In California turn signals are used to indicate to the guy next to you to speed up and close the space you were attempting to occupy

What bullshit. I heard a letter from a guy who wrote into a radio station, saying that he is not an aggressive driver, he is an assertive driver. That means that when he signals (which he always does before shifting lanes) he says, "I am not asking permission, I am serving notice! If I signal, make no mistake about it, I am coming over! That said, if someone else signals while I'm driving, I do have the courtesy to make room for them."

See, that's the way it oughta be. Driving with balls, AND with respect for others.
