mccordia 74 #27 March 31, 2003 I also never had a problem with the customs at Schiphol. Next month will be the first time I'll be passing through with my rig though...curious to how that'll go :) How long will you be in Holland? Depending on what you want. No matter how cool and 'lose' Amsterdam is, do try and see other places if you 'realy' want to see holland. Just seeing Amsterdam is like just visiting a casino in vegas and saying you saw America...(even though it sure is a helluvalottafun)JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? nacmacfeegle 0 #28 March 31, 2003 "curious to how that'll go " It will be very easy, read up on the hints and tips on the forums. I've hauled my rig through Schiphol on domestic (European) and transatlantic flights. "How long will you be in Holland?" I'm not working over there anymore, I was there for most of 2001, working in Bad Bentheim which is just across the German border, not far from Enschede. I jumped at Rhine, Teuge, and Texel.-------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. SkyDekker 1,465 #29 March 31, 2003 QuoteI forgot to add that Schiphol has probably the best tax free shopping in the western hemisphere. Thanks, I'll let my aunt know, she'll appreciate the comment since she developed and built the concept at Schiphol.

SkyDekker 1,465 #31 March 31, 2003 She also developed and built the concept of the terminal leading straight into the train station and all the stores in that area as well. That grocery store is one of the best producing stores around......

miked10270 0 #33 March 31, 2003 [replyDefinitely explains the cavity searches Mike....Your pulling my wire ain't ya? Quote Regrettably... NO!Every, EVERY time I've been to SchipolI've been "got" by airport security!!! Everything! Strip search, halted by the airport cops by the simple expedient of one of them unslinging a rifle and pointing it at my chest, pulled out of a queue actually boarding an aircraft (& yes I DID have a ticket). I wonder if I bear a resemblance to some manically wanted master criminal who's been desperately wanted by Schipol airport police since 1978! It actually usually takes me longer to get through Schipol than it's ever taken me to clear US Immigration! The only time I wasn't stopped at Schipol was 1997, coming back from Minneapolis & connecting to Edinburgh. That was the time me & Iona were being followed by some shady bloke through the airport. I went to the security police, pointed out the guy, the cop then gabbled off into his radio, and a couple of minutes later the guy following us just got up & went away. Either co-incidence, or the local pickpockets have police radios, or (my bet) I was about to see some of the less public areas of Schipol yet again. I suppose that by now I kind of invite this since I must look kind of tense & nervous whenever I'm in Schipol. It woldn't be so bad but I've never really insulted the Dutch... Well, not that much, maybe the odd comment about holland not actually having any land, it's more like de-hydrated sea, a voiced disappointment when I was actually taken to watch the Dykes in action, suggestions that Meerschaum pipes were... Well, never mind. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Prenait la pisse hors du FrançaisCanadiens méridionaux puisqu'avant lui à la mode.
